Hi everyone. So I filed for AOS via tourist visa in May and today, I finally received the letters saying my request for employment and travel have been authorized and to wait for my card to arrive. I have two questions here.

1) since receiving this letter, approx how much time later do the cards arrive?

2) has anyone tried leaving the country and re-entering right now during COVID with the travel permit? Is it perfectly OK to do so at the moment or has anyone had any issues? I haven’t gone home in 11 months and am desperate to go visit— but i’m worried I won’t be let back into the country!

Thanks a lot. Also, approx how much longer from here does it take to get set up for the green card interview? Thanks again.

Hi,

1) depends on if you have completed your biometrics appointment. If yes, then your cards should be with you within a couple of weeks.
if no, you have to wait for your biometrics appointment (for me roughly 2 months after approval), complete biometrics and then within a couple of weeks you should have it.

i am curious about 2) myself, since I will be in the same position.

As you are not yet a permanent resident, you are included in the ban for travel from the list of countries that are under the COVID-19 travel ban (mainland China, Schengen countries, UK, Republic of Ireland, Brazil). You don’t say where you are going or how you will get there and back but if your travel plans involve one of the “banned” countries then you will need to alter your plans.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Odds are OP is exempt to those proclamations. Many AP travelers that are spouse of US citizen or LPR have recently traveled to those countries and back without issue.

True. Without a completed timeline or information in the post as to the basis for adjustment of status we don’t know. Statistically it’s more likely the OP is a spouse of a USC or LPR but not necessarily so. Could be a parent of a USC.

Yes, i’m married to a US citizen and I will be travelling to a Central American country. I also already completed my biometrics appt .

so, there shouldn’t be any problem coming back into the U.S.? Do border patrol agents tend to cause any issues with travel permits/what to expect if they send me to secondary inspection? Not sure if I should take more documents just in case. I want as few questions as possible. Also is there a limit to how long I go visit my country for?

also, would anyone know approx how much longer itd take for the interview from here on out?

thanks again!

I recieved my letters of approval yesterday, and my case updated around midnight to show my card had been pick up by USPS and show the tracking number, is expected to be delivered tomorrow!

Hi, has anyone crossed the border with an Employment Authorization/i-512 Advance Parole card recently (throughout COVID and all)? I’m undergoing AOS/green card process at the moment.

I just received it in the mail and really want to go home but am terrified of having issues at the border patrol inspection on the way back. It’ll be through a land port of entry.

Should I be OK and what to expect? Should I take additional documents? Thanks.

I went to visit family with my spouse this summer in Canada. We drove across the border and didn’t have any issues re entering using the combo card. Took a few minutes to process but we were on our way no problem, and that’s with the limited acceptance with the Canada US border being closed right now.
