How to get a hold of tier 1 or tier 2

Hi everyone,

I applied for adjustment of status on May 4, 2020 and I still haven't received my biometrics appointment so I've been calling every week to get an update and also just to bug them as of why it's taking so <removed> long.

In the past I was able to talk to tier 1 and even tier 2 but today I tried multiple times and anything I would say to the automated system wouldn't suffice for it to transfer me to a "real person". To the point that the automated voice would hang up on me because it "couldn't help".

What exactly do you say that get you transferred to a tier 1?

Its called a global pandemic..  The ASCs were closed for more than 4 months and they have reopened with reduced capacity.   They are working through the backlog

Great for you if it took 3 and half month to get the biometric appointment. Hopefully someone else can answer my question.

What does my situation have to do with what is currently happening.

The issue today is a direct result of the support centers being closed for 4 months due to covid and since reopening they prioritized citizenship biometrics and only recently started with the other applications.   You need to wait your turn.

YMMV

In 2 weeks I will be outside of normal processing time and am planning on submitting a case inquiry. Covid or not the timeline on uscis website has been updated accordingly. And if I can't get passed the computer voice I'm not sure how I can do that.

I’ve had the same issues trying to get through the automated system. I ended up keep saying speak to a representative and pressing 0 and 1. It was incredibly frustrating, took forever and then the tier 1 couldn’t even help me and tier 2 weren’t accepting anymore call backs so I have to try again Monday! 🤷🏽‍♀️

good luck! Keep trying! I hope you get your biometrics sorted soon, that’s a long time to wait just for the first time but COVID really has done a number on this process. 😔

If you keep pushing the # key you will end up on hold for a live person.

Thank you for the straightforward answer! I will try that on Monday.

Thank you Meg, yes that is indeed very frustrating.. I mean when you pay close to 2 grand and that your life is put at a halt for this long the LEAST they can do is keep you updated on where you are in the process, but it's way too much to ask for coming from uscis.

Good luck to you too, I see that you're almost there. I hope they can approve your file quickly.

I wholeheartedly agree!

Thank you! I sure hope so. It's been almost 6 weeks now since my GC interview. I spoke with USCIS this morning and I'm on a call back request list to speak with a tier 2 agent. I hope they can at least give me something. It's frustrating being left in the dark. Knowledge is power and reduces the anxiety of just being left waiting in the unknown.

Best of luck to you! 🙂

May i ask what you told the automated system in order to reach a representative? I havent been able to reach a live person and the system just says it can't help me and hangs up on me.
