Hello!!

Does the birth certificate (mine is from Brazil) need to be translated to English for my greencard interview?

Anything given to the USCIS not in English needs a translation

YMMV

Your US passport is evidence of US citizenship.   Your Brazilian BC does not get it done.  However,  the request appears to be asking for both

Bring primary evidence of US citizenship.  Since you don’t have a US birth certificate, bring which ever these applies:

* naturalization cert

* citizenship cert

* CRBA

If you were never issued any of the above, or then bring documents you used to get your US passport. Typically this consists of:

* your birth certificate

* certified translation of your birth certificate

* your parents’ marriage cert

* certified translation of the marriage cert if not in English

* Your parents’ primary evidence  of US citizenship

Your Brazilian birth certificate and your US passport is good. Be sure to country specific guidelines for Brazil:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Brazil.html

If by any chance the birth certificate was re-issued and it has a date after November 2017, it will need to be this type of certificate: certidao de inteiro teor. (Read the instructions on the link above).

I had lost my birth certificate and had one reissued, so this was important information...

Good luck!

Green Card questions should be posted in this thread https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/7-adjustment-of-status-green-card-from-k1-and-k3-family-based-visas/ as this section is for those who are processing a visa, you have already past this stage. Your conversation can confuse others who are not at that stage. Also, you'll have others who are at your stage or who are more knowledgeable about the GC process.

Can I translate it myself?

If yes, should I add “Certificate of Translator” statement? If yes, should I sign it? If yes, should my signature be notarized?

1. Yes.

2. Yes. "The translator must certify that they are competent to translate the language used in the document into English."

3. Yes, The statement needs to be signed, and stated  by the translator, above the name of translator. I would also note that the translator is the petitioner.

4. No, do not get it notarized.

Make sure to make two copies of the original translation. Bring the original and a copy for USCIS. Keep the original unless the officer demands the original, Surrender the copy.

The same is true of original birth certificate. And push back hard on surrendering your original birth certificate because replacing it is probably hard.

What documents did you user to get your first US passport? Those documents will be needed as well.
