Hi all,

When I first received my advanced parole card, the paper it was glued to had my A number and a bar code on it, on the paper it said "Use this tear-off portion to speed your application for an extension or replacement card", how does the tear off portion of that paper help to speed up our application? Are we supposed to tear it off and just send it in with our extension application?

Also, is there a link where we can double check we are sending in all the attachments needed for a AP extension?  Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to the Employment Authorization Document that says "Serves as I-512 Advance Parole"? When does the card expire?

1) Yes it was the paper that the combo card was stuck to.

My second question is, for the fourth item I bolded and italized below "A copy of any document issued to you by the Service showing present status in the U.S", what would be an example of this if I am trying to apply for an Advanced Parole card extension? I am currently waiting for a GC interview so I'm not really sure what status I am...spouse of USC?

Thank you again!

-----------------------------------

To obtain a travel document (Advance Parole), following documents are required for filing Form I-131 :

  • An accurately completed Application for Travel Document, Form I-131.
  • A receipt notice for Form I-485 ( Applicable in case of pending green card application).
  • Two passport-style photographs.
  • A copy of any document issued to you by the Service showing present status in the U.S.
  • A copy of an official photo identity document (with photo, name, and date or birth) such as a passport or driver's license.
  • Evidence showing your reasons and/or necessity to travel, if necessary in your application type.
  • If you are traveling to Canada to apply for an immigrant visa, a copy of the U.S. consular appointment letter.
  • Copy of your marriage certificate if you are applying for advance parole based on pending green card petition of your spouse.
  • Copy of the child's birth certificate if applying for advance parole for a child based on pending green card petition of the primary applicant.

Your I-485 receipt notice is sufficient as you have "Pending adjustment of status under Section 245 of the Act." Although it's not a status, you are in a period of stay authorized by the Secretary of Homeland Security.

Which visa type did you use to enter the US? So the moderators can place this thread in the correct forum.
