Hello,

I would just like to ask if it is necessary to submit my Philippine passport as a proof that I will change my surname into my husband's surname?

Or our marriage certificate will suffice? I am having a hard time getting a slot on renewal of my Philippine passport because all slots are always taken. I have been checking every day just to get a slot.

Thank you in advance

I don't think its necessary for I-751 if you just want to prove that you're going to use your husband's last name. If you use your husband name on marriage certificate then thats already enough.

Remember to fill out the part that says other names.

What we did is we kept all my wifes immigration stuff in her maiden name. We changed her SSN, Real ID, Military ID bank account credit cards etc. etc. into her married name. Didn't change passport because we never reported the marriage to the Philippines and that  is required from what I've heard to change name on passport. We didnt include it in I-751 Package
