Time between submitting NVC docs and DQ?

Hi there!

For IR-1 couples working with the London consulate, does anyone have an estimate/anecdotes regarding the wait between hitting “submit documents” on CEAC and receiving a DQ? I’ve seen plenty of timelines and estimates for the period between DQ and interview, but can’t locate info about how long most people are waiting for the DQ after getting all their paperwork in.

I’m sure this is a common question that has been answered a million times, so please feel free to just direct me to the right place or delete if necessary. Don’t mean to be annoying.

No one will be able to give you an exact time.

For what I've seen under normal circumstances and looking at timelines in london 3-6 months. But this is only my guess and estimate.

My spouses case specifically spent nearly 1 & 1/2 years to become DQ'd (fault of NVC and their process). Ours is more of an extreme case.

So sorry to say is that no one will be able to give you an exact idea. It's a black box.

Thanks! Definitely not looking for an exact time, I know that’s impossible. Just wondering what other people have experienced and if there’s a sort of expected minimum or average.

There's another forum where everyone is having specific discussions about exactly this.

Sorry I can't link you to it, I'm quite new here still and don't know specifically how, but it's under one of the regional forums for the UK.

Estimates do definitely vary. I think I can confidently say that most people who have been cancelled from earlier on in the year for interviews have been rescheduled and through the process by now.

The last group of interviewees were those with DQ dates I think between May and the very beginning of July. We think we're at about a 4-5 month wait at the moment for DQ to interview date.

I'm DQ July 10 and am still waiting at the moment for my interview if that helps give you an estimate at all? I think pre-COVID times, things in London were quite expeditious and people were having interviews scheduled between 6 weeks and 6 months situationally dependent.

I recommend looking around at some of the regional forums though, it's been really helpful and everyone is super supportive.

Best of luck :)

Hiya! Thanks for the info!

I’m actually looking for any estimates for the period between submitting docs to the NVC and being DQ’d, not the period between being DQ’d and getting an interview 😊

I’ll keep checking the regional forums!

Sorry! That's my fault for not paying closer attention.

Hopefully you find some of the information in the regional forums - lots of chatter there too but again, the time is quite variable and depends on the service centre where your application is being processed (I think!)

Good luck!!!

There is an entire forum for the NVChttps://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/83-national-visa-center-dept-of-state/

Getting from submit to DQ all depends on the NVC and has nothing to do with London.

Once DQ, then interview assignment time will be more embassy specific depending on availability of slots open.

A helpful user of this forum, dwheels76, maintains some spreadsheets from people posting their dates etc over here https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/134-ir-1-cr-1-spouse-visa-case-filing-and-progress-reports/ . The best indicator of when you might be "next" is to keep an eye out on posts from people with similar submission dates. Our DQ took 5 weeks, so I think 6-8 weeks is a good minimum to have in mind. Any quicker is great, but it could take a bit longer if you have a lot of documents or get a request for evidence. Our interview after that took 5 months because of COVID.
