Cancelling and rescheduling a CR1 interview

I have interview appointments for my wife and her daughter scheduled.  I'm trying to cancel them and reschedule for a later date.  When I logged into the site to do so I'm getting this message:

 

 

So based on this I have to wait to miss our appointment to reschedule.  Do we just flat out ignore the appointment?  We don't need to notify anyone that we are missing the appointment?  Seems like it would be better and cleaner to be able to cancel.  It would open the appointment slot for someone else.

 

There's no negative ramifications about missing an appointment?  After all of this time I don't want to do something stupid and not be able to recover.

You would first have to register in order to complete your cancellation of appointment. When they send you your appointment letter via email they send you another email to sign in on the site and register how you will be able to pick up your passport if you have gotten approve. That’s where you can cancel your appointment. However after you cancel you won’t see any available dates for now be prepare if it’s possible I would encourage you to let them go to the interview I cancel mine back in August was one of the biggest mistake

We are registered.  We went through my wife's login from when she registered to apply for a tourist visa a few years ago.  That's how we got to this point in the website.
