My husband had his CR1 interview August 12 and was put under Administrative Processing, my heart tells me this will be a long wait my father in law is advising me to contact my Senator for help since there are elections going on now and they need those votes from citizens they will gladly help now, but my niece who works for the department of state and who personally met my local Representative says otherwise to wait until after the elections since its chaos right now and their focus is on other issues either way she knows people in both office she can speed up my request. I know i get one shot with the help of a congress man but i want to know when should i get them involved? Is it too soon? Before or after elections? Does a senator have more seniority than a representative?

I'm sorry, but your Senator and/or Representative can do nothing about extended Administrative Processing.  Its just a required part of the process, and takes time for some cases and countries.  Hopefully, you will see the status change to "issued" soon.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

All your Senator's office will do is tell you what you know, the case is in AP.

Neither Senator or member of the House can help as Congress has no control over immigration except to make the laws as needed

Immigration is not paid for thru the federal budget / it is solely thru our fees

as said above many contact a Senator of House member and the only response they get is the same one you get which will be "the case is in AP while extended security reviews take place" and there is no timeframe for these to be completed

You can as your Senator to inquire about your case but nothing more. They are not going to push your case forward like you assume.

Think about it for sec, if it was really like that then it would open up the potential for abuse and bribery. So immigration is tightly secured from interference from external sources.

Hi we have a very similar case. My wife interviewed in Amman on 8/6 (CR1) and they gave her 221g for proof of relationship because we hadn’t not turned anything in prior; she had it all with her in case they asked but they didn’t.... fast forward to now.. 6 updates later, 2 inquiries from me and their automatic response of ‘your case is in administrative processing’ emails... I reached out to my local congress representative two days ago. I figured what do I have to lose but I’m afraid they will probably just get the same answer as they’ve been giving me.

What struck me most is I saw you posted elsewhere that he had applied for a visa prior, same with my wife, I had a hunch that this couple be holding us up because I can’t think of anything else. Maybe they are wondering why our spouses want to come to the US so bad after an initial rejection.. Idk.. food for thought!

Please don't be hopeless. Doctrine is a kinds of power that embassy is holding. Senator or any political figure is not able to do anything once it is in administrative processing. But inquiring  by senator will have the embassy's attention only. Only one thing you could do is wait till a year and then submit mandamus if they will not make any decision by then. Senator will have the same answer that you've seen on the visa status check screen. If you are from a country that every applicant must go through AP then prepare to be patient.
