Hello y'all,

since de holidays are coming up I am planning on visiting family this December and before I book any tickets I would like to know if there is anyone out there who traveled down there recently and came back with no problems or had problems coming back either from leaving Brazil or port of entry. I am a permanent resident.

I appreciate any help.

Valeu!

I don´t think the travel ban applies to permanent residents and citizens. Best bet would be to call embassy. Or email...

The end of August I traveled to Brazil with my Filipina fiancé, because Brazil was literally about the only country in the world we could find that was willing to host both an American and a Filipina concurrently during these times.  I can't go to Philippines, she can't come to the US, we hade an awesome vacation in Brazil.  Even at the height of pandemic everything we encountered in Brazil was working just fantastic.  I have nothing but the most positive things to say about how the Brazilian people are handling things.  The airlines at check-in, and Brazilian Immigration were VERY diligent checking that we each had health insurance specifically covering COVID for the duration of our visit.  Maybe not required if one has a Brazilian passport but for foreigners that was the main requirement and they were strictly enforcing it.  Brazilian immigration was a pleasure to deal with, both as a USC and for my Filipina fiancé arriving on a different flight from me.  Returning to the US as a USC I had to fill out a simple form and they took my temperature at Houston, that was the entire extent of COVID related formalities for the US.  Just looking at the line at immigration, I'd estimate the majority of the passengers on the flight back to the US had Brazilian Passports, which with the travel ban in place, I assume means they were LPR's or duel citizens and they were all handled the same as me by US immigration.  No issue whatsoever getting back into the US.  Really it was a great trip in the middle of all of this.  I was very happy Brazil would have us as guests so we could spend some time together.

As far as COVID measures in Brazil specifically, I don't know if it was mandatory or voluntary but almost everyone was wearing masks, as they should, and no one seemed to mind.  UBER was available everywhere and the drivers all had masks on and windows open.  Almost all businesses were open.  Guys here and there at entrances would insist on dousing you with hand sanitizer. Tourist attractions were all open.  Malls were open.  Sidewalk or patio outdoor dining has always been a thing there.  People seemed positive and happy and no-one seemed to be in crises or panic mode.  They were taking prudent precautions but going on with life.  Really an positive attitude there.

Social distancing on flights, non-existent.  Every flight, to/from the US and domestic in Brazil was 100% full.  100% mandatory masks and good sanitation but don't expect any empty middle seats.  But it was fine.
