Gal Gadot as Cleopatra is a backwards step for Hollywood representation

I do not care for her acting. As much as I did enjoy the attempt at Wonder Woman, I'm just not a fan. It's fine if she wants to play this role, but I personally think she will be terrible at it, and I reallllly.... *really* would like to see GOOD historical movies about female figures for once. Think the issue is for me there are many good actresses out there that could have been selected for this attempt, and not just a 'hot babe' type thing. Back in the day people like Lady Gaga or Angelina Jolie were rumored for this role... and I just..... ugh. It would be nice to give lesser known but still great actresses of their own beauty and talent, room to shine right?

This is dumb, as you all know. Cleopatra was pretty certainly Macedonian-Greek with a smidge of Persian. The support for her having any Egyptian or African blood is generally rejected. More dumb stuff

Oh yes, he is great in that! My appreciation for Steve Buscemi didn't disappoint in this either, and he plays well against Simon Beale's scheming.

If we're trying to make it like a throwback to the original 60s version (which I suspect they are), I'd reckon Fassbender for the intensity stand-in of Richard Burton. Hard to replicate Elizabeth Taylor (that is clearly what they are thinking here)- if we were going for a certain look of sexy bombshell Selma Hayek perhaps, but she is likely considered too old. Tonia Sotiropoulou maybe?

 

What we'll end up with is Gal Gadot being her wooden self, with oh man... I hope it won't be someone like lol.. Ryan Gosling (or someone from Game of Thrones) vapidly staring into the camera! When I think of Cleopatra, I don't see a traditional or bombshell beauty actually, at least if we're going for historical accuracy.

Personally I love it, but I understand it tastes like soap for others. Al cannot stand fennel anything, so that means Italian sausage is not on the menu, and I used to make gorgeous roast fennel, but no more.

 

Who would I cast as Cleopatra? Emily Blunt could carry this -- a big enough name with actual talent. Rebecca Hall is fantastic as well, extremely talented.

Really? Maybe it's just that I think women with brown hair have more gravitas, so I assumed Cleopatra was older.
