Hi everyone. I’m just curious as to what is expected here. I read that when filling out the application, the immigrant must disclose any social media accounts he has used within the last five years. Does the same go for the petitioner as well? This is for the spouse visa, once we get married.

I have nothing to hide of course; my fiancé and I have been pretty public about our relationship, so it’s not like we’ve been keeping it secret. It’s just that I have a lot of stuff going on in my personal life right now, and I find that social media is just adding to the negativity. I want to deactivate my Facebook account but I’m worried how that may come across to the visa officer? Does it matter for me, or is it only my fiancé who needs to disclose info about social media? Thanks!

Only the immigrant has to disclose login information not the petitioner

No, not login information.  Just the media account names - how others can find you on the platform(s).

And the media accounts do not have to be public.  If they are private, they can remain private.  Don't change it from one to the other, unless you have other reasons to do so.

Login information implies username and password.

Hopefully she only listed the usernames.

If she gave up her passwords she needs to change them right now.

Otherwise, I would be grateful if you could provide your banking login information to me.

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond to the comments. But just to clarify, only the immigrant has to provide the social media information? If I want to deactivate my Facebook account, would that be okay to do so? I am so tired of social media, but if it’s going to look strange to delete my account, I won’t do that.

Yes, only the immigrant.  It is asked as part of the DS-260 form.

Also, it is not required to have social media accounts.  It is required to disclose them only if the applicant has them.
