Preparing in advance for the visa interview

Like many others, my fiancé and I are waiting for a letter to come from the NVC, but are delayed until the embassies actually open.

I'd imagine an influx of operations to go through then the embassy finally does open, so we feel it's a good idea to plan in advance. We personally feel that it is safe to assume a 6 month window when it does happen (which is in line with the expiration date from the medical checkup). So provided this, we are committed to get all the other requirements done; one of which is the medical checkup. This requires a flight to the required location, but it also allows us to get several other things done.

We do not have any specific questions about the process, but just wanted to get an opinion from others about this. Are our thoughts reasonable?

All I can say that yes, it is best to understand and prepare prior to the interview.  So many people go into the immigration process with little knowledge of the actual process, so I applaud your efforts to be well prepared.

Thanks 🙂 . I guess we were curious on whether or not a 6 month window was a conservative estimate for the reopening (indonesia). Of course, no one can know for sure, so we were just curious about what others thought about this.

Hard to say in this current environment.  A lot will depend on what happens locally everywhere around the world.

Have you visited your embassy's website to determine what is needed for the interview? That's a good place to start. Has the beneficiary lived in another country for more than 6 months since the age of 16? If so then you will need a Police Certificate from that/those countries.

And lastly,

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Country and Visa Type: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RyJiLo_7WTmqvkzXXqLuOlVHm9oyhAES/view?usp=sharing

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

You can not schedule or have the medical exam until you get a document from the embassy to do this

that letter will  be taken to the appointment

that letter will also give you a list of drs that perform the visa medical exam

@Greenbaum Correct. The police certificate will be part of the trip, as well a birth certificate translation.

We'll work on updating our profile!

Thank you for your feedback. 🙂

We called the hospital and they told us that they just need the case number (which we already have received from the nvc), and we should be good to go. And for lists of doctors can be found in official website of the US Embassy in Indonesia. Thanks for your feedback 🙂

Yes,  you have the case # / all have one before embassy gets the case

but still need the paper document  from the embassy to take to interview

this will come also with instructions for what supporting evidence you need to bring to interview

and the letter to get into embassy with date and time

doing the interview too soon could require another medical exam later to be within the 6 month timeframe of the visa which has already happened to many because of either AP or the covid delays

What paper document are you referring to?

@Jeanne Adil Yeah,  we'll likely wait until we receive an further instructions from embassy. Thank you for the response 🙂

You can get a head start on what is needed for your interview.

P3 Letter from Consulate

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gNE59CSXcFjVhiBa3tLYFclDtj3f0nCp/view?usp=sharing

Starting 1/2019 Indonesia requires the Tax Transcript and not the 1040.

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

We had to present the paper copy of (1st K1 sent to house in Morocco for interview) and then next 2 the printed out email to get into the embassy/one person in Casa did not know this and the man at the gate turned him away saying without the "notice of interview no one gets in"

Every embassy interviewing process required documents and other such matters can and are different between each country. What you experience for Morocco is not the same for other embassy locations. Now the exceptions to what you have opined, is that you need the notice of the interview appointment would in my guesstimation be the same for most. I recommend that anyone who is attending their interview be sure of the source of your information.  Your embassy website, others who have experience from your country with the same visa type or information that you have received from the embassy should be your "bible" for the interview process. Just saying.

@Greenbaum Correct. We are referring the same document you provided. When we officially get our own, we'll make sure provide the community with the latest version for Indonesia.

We are still waiting for the letter to come from the NVC, but we called them and received our invoice number and embassy case number. So feel it is safe to move forward with the process, since the Indonesian Embassy has partially open for other visa processes.
