There are fundamental differences between men and women. The same is not true about "races."

I expect the New Jersey Supreme Court will smack them down, hard. They usually do.

New Jersey's antidiscrimination laws prohibit showing any favoritism to one group over another, and one of the types of group is "real or perceived sexual orientation." If a public school favors straight couples over same-sex ones, that's a no-no.

Remember, this is the state Supreme Court who split 4-3 on the issue of gay marriage: the majority held that same-sex couples have the right to all the privileges and responsibilities of marriage and gave the legislature 180 days to rewrite the laws to make same-sex unions have the exact same status as heterosexual ones ... and the minority held that the majority didn't go far enough!

From the article:
"It looked provocative," she said. "If it was either heterosexual or gay, it should have been blacked out. It's how they posed for the picture."

Russell Garris, the assistant superintendent who oversees the city's high schools, brought the photograph to Bolden's attention Thursday afternoon. He was concerned the picture would be controversial and upsetting to parents, Bolden said.

There are several photos of heterosexual couples kissing in the yearbook, but the superintendent said she didn't review the entire yearbook and was presented only with Jackson's page....

Rules for publication of the pages prohibited shots of gang signs, rude gestures and graphic photos, said Benilde Barroqueiro, an East Side senior graduating with Jackson.

"You know, it couldn't be too provocative. No making out, no tongue," she said.

I nearly hurled the 3 beers I drank earlier when I saw that. That would have been a severe case of alcohol abuse. Waste not, want not, is my motto.

Next time give a warning when posting these photos. Beer money don't come cheap.

Rrrrawr, me manly man. Me drink beer. Me very straight. Hear me roar.

I'd like to see that ####### ring test done on any man who says it bothers him to see two gay men kissing...you know the one where they measure the man's arousal while having him watch gay porn.

totally off the subject, but the ####### ring...reminds me of my college days..i was in rehab. institute, and one of the professors, dr harry rubin, did a study on cannabis and sexual arouser...well, they let you smoke free pot and watch porn..and i ask how much i had to pay to get in the study..i was amazed.,.nothing!

anyway, i vol. and was a subject..got wasted and they had a baseline priopr..that is, showed different quick photos of mountains..an airplane etc..well, when that robin was pulling that worm out of a hole./. my findings were invalid. .i did finally, enjoy the porn too..wow, what a day....i love science !

What if this was an issue about 2 girls kissing?

Or what if it was an issue of an interracial couple? Lots here on VJ. Would those who strongly oppose 2 men kissing also feel the same way about that?

That is such a 360 degree difference. 2 men or 2 girls kissing doesnt even compare to an interracial couple kissing.

Well, the thing is, for some people .... it does. There are some people that feel THAT is offensive and wrong, that people should date within their own race, that there are fundamental differences between the races.

Personally, I feel those people are nutbaskets, but it does make me wonder about what offends people. Seems like the gay issue is the biggest offender.

I think they actually are comparable. 60 years ago you can bet it would be comparable. The way people of the next generation view gays will be completely more accepting. Just because we accept interracial couples as a society now does not mean we always did.

Before 1967, it was a great comparison. Interracial marriage/dating was ilegal in some states. Amazing how a few decades can change perception on what is right and what is wrong. There are so many areas where it is not illegal to discriminate against same sex couples. It's time we enforce our own Constitutioin. Equal under the law means just that.

things change we now have a whole new generation of (mixed interracial) children coming up, these are the new future and also the situation of a child concieved by a donor to produce a child that is being raised by same sex couples.

There was a story on tv telling of these donors. Two women were raising a son together they met a woman and started talking about the process and found they had both used the same donor number (xyz12) now the little boy has a half sister. Upon further research they have now found about six more kids with the same (dad). This is the new generation.

Maybe they did him a favor by blackening it out the photo. He may not even be with the same boyfriend years down the road. ;)

True. The real victims here are the straight couples, most of whom will break up right after prom or during their first semester of college and their yearbook will preserve that couple FOREVER, along with their bad hair and teenage acne and dedication to Coldplay.

I figure if you allow pictures of couples kissing in the yearbook, it really shouldn't matter the composition of the couple.

We don't believe in a straighforward tyrany of the majority in this country.
