We're currently filling out the DS-260 form, and they require social media accounts. I've always had my accounts private, meaning no one can see my posts, except approved family and friends. Would it be in my best interest to make them public for the NVC?

You can leave them how they are; just accurately provide the username they are asking for.

No need to change your privacy settings (and I strongly recommend you keep your accounts private).  They only require your social media names.

There are two questions on the DS-260 I’m a little unsure how to answer.

1 - Have you ever been issued a US Visa?

As a Canadian, I never needed a Visa to travel between Canada and the US. However, I travelled to the US during COVID, and they stamped my passport with a B1/B2 Visa at the port of entry.

I’m assuming I need to answer “yes” and explain this?

2 - Have you ever been refused entry in the US?

My short answer is yes, and that’s because I tried crossing a land border with my American husband during COVID (this was in August). They said he go through, but I couldn’t due to the pandemic and the border being closed. They printed a note saying that I was refused entry and suggested that I fly instead to gain entry (it’s some type of loophole I assume?). So that’s what I did, and it worked (and that’s where they stamped my passport with the B1/B2 Visa).

Is it best to answer “yes” and explain?

Appreciate your help!

For the birth certificate, it seems we need to include both sides. I have an English birth certificate from Quebec, but the back is in French. It basically has the security features to look at in order to ensure it's an authentic document.

The front specifies there is a back to the document, so I'm assuming I need to include the back as well. But I'm also assuming I need to have a certified translator translate it to English? Seems a little ridiculous to translate the security features of the document, but I really don't want to further delay and get an RFE.

it said that an English version is provided on their website, so maybe you can just try to check it and have the English version instead of doing the certified translation

We actually did translate the back, we had the exact same french text on the back of our english marriage certificate. Especially because it's mentioned in the front that there is information about authenticity of the document in the back.

Provide a certified translation of the back side of the document.

Appreciate the response. I spoke the NVC today on the phone, and they said they think the translation on the website should be sufficient, given that it's clearly indicated on the front that it's translated on their website. I really hope this NVC agent is right.

You will have more than "hope" if you do as I advised.

I'm assuming you're saying this agent didn't know what she was taking about and I need to have a certified translation? She also reminded that a translation is not required for documents in the language of the country where my visa interview will take place, and that's in Quebec where French is the official language.

I recorded the call, and am ready to use that as evidence. So, yes, I'm gong to "hope" the NVC gives truthful information.

Right, I spoke to the NVC this morning and they said the translation on the website should be fine. The agent suggested that I take a screenshot and include. Also, the agent reminded me that a translation is not required for documents in the language of the country where your visa interview will take place. So since French is the official language of Quebec, and one of the two official languages in Canada, I really hope this doesn't get a checklist, especially after speaking directly with the NVC...
