Hey guys!

So I have a quick question. I've filed my adjustment of status after arriving on K1 prior to the rule changes and understand that I'm waiting on a GC. Assuming I get a 2 year GC, and ofc, I'll need to renew. I also believe you need to fill out the i-944 in order to renew, so my question is this.

I have some student debts back in the UK. UK student debts are different than regular debts in that they're written off after 30 years, or if I die. I only pay back my debt when I personally (not including my partner) start to earn over a certain amount (in the US i believe it's somewhere in the ball park of 20,000$ annually). The debt is somewhere above 50k GBP. I understand I'll need to report this, but I was wondering if this would impact anything negatively. I know there's a number of factors they want you to meet, and as far as I know, I'm fine on most of them. My partner and I will be working and I'm not going to borrow money here. Together we'll be earning above poverty guidelines for the two of us. This is the only debt we have between us. I suppose my concern is how negatively this would impact my standing.

Does anyone have experience dealing with this problem yet? If so I'd love to hear your perspective. Any knowledge on the matter is much appreciated from anyone.

Thanks for your time!

I-944 is only for Adjusting Status. After that is no longer needed.

And you won't renew you 2 years green card. You will remove conditions. And again, that doesn't require I-944.
