Sorry if this has been answered already. I tried searching but didn't seem to find a post like this.

My fiancee is from France and our k1 visa application is coming up on 7 months and close to our receipt date. If it gets accepted and we move on to the next steps and she gets her visa. Do you know if she will be able to fly directly from France to the US? Or is there a travel ban still in place even if you have a visa?

Can she fly from France to Mexico and then to the US?

Thank you.

Paris has only issued 2 K-1 visas because of the Schengen Area proclamation: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-statistics/nonimmigrant-visa-statistics/monthly-nonimmigrant-visa-issuances.html Those 2 cases were exempt to the Proclamation; for example: parent of unmarried US citizen child under the age of 21, etc.: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/03/16/2020-05578/suspension-of-entry-as-immigrants-and-nonimmigrants-of-certain-additional-persons-who-pose-a-risk-of

Likely very few k1s until ban is lifted or upon successful lawsuit

YMMV

Has anybody from France or Europe been able to successfully obtain their visa during these times? This is heartbreaking...

Much better to do a CR-1 these days....

I know we can both travel to Mexico, I just found out that US citizens can travel to Turkey as well and it looks like Europeans can too, correct?

I wouldn’t pin your hopes on such creative routes. Borders can be closed at any time. Look at what happened to the Schengen countries - we were told on a Thursday that the border would be closed to them on Sunday. Imagine if the same happened with Turkey or Mexico and you were there hoping to spend the required 14-day period to be able to enter the US and suddenly that country is added to the “no travel from here” list.

For this reason, very few K-1 visas have been issued in the Schengen area/UK/Ireland lately as there is no point issuing a visa to someone who has no direct path to travel here.
