Visit to the US from the Philippines during COVID

A few family members from the Philippines with B2 visas are planning to visit this December.

Questions:

  1. Can they enter the US with a valid B2 visa even during this pandemic?
  2. Do they need to provide additional documentation like insurance coverage, return ticket, covid swab test, etc?
  3. Do they need to be quarantined?

Thank you to all who will take time to answer. :)

Yes, they can enter the US but can they leave the Philippines? Quarantining is specific to the state they will be visiting so they would need to look into that and if a COVID test would required to not have to quarantine. I would imagine a state wouldn’t accept a test from the Philippines and it may have to be from certain labs in the US (just speculation).

On a tourist visa everyone should always have a return ticket and it’s always a good idea to have insurance in case of emergencies...especially with all the sickness come the winter. Just remember things are in flux right now and what is the protocol today may not be the protocol tomorrow. For example in CT every week they release a list of red states that If you travel you have to quarantine and sometimes states come off that list.

Personally I think it will be worse in December.

They can't leave the Philippines right now. But the restrictions are slowly easing. Hopefully no sudden spikes in the near future and we anticipate that travel outside the Philippines will then be allowed.

Thank you for the uber quick response.

I also suggest looking at the airlines website. (Definitely check the specific state protocol as well as I mentioned) My husband traveled abroad in the summer and their airline site had the COVID requirements for his place of destination and broke down the airlines policy as well.

As of today?

1. No

2. Will have to see at time of flight

3. Will have to see at time of flight

I would wait until a few days before there flight and see what restrictions Duterte puts on international travels out of Philippines.

By December it could be a whole new set of answers to your questions.  It's too far into the future for anyone to know.

New updated rule starting October 21st.

Just be aware this could change at and day, hour or minute upon Duterte's mood or feelings
