Who took away your GC?

Why was it taken?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I do, but unfortunately happened a couple of times that different airline representatives didn't, that's why I raised this question.

Officially, you don't have an issue with US customs and immigration using your passport with the stamp.  But, as you stated, not all airlines are as cognizant and can give you trouble.  Just be as proactive as possible by contacting airlines ahead of time .

Thank you. I will definitely contact them.

I-551 stamps are legit and most check-inn staff, working US flights, know this. Should you run into a person not familiar with it, get the supervisor out. If they still have issues with it, they need to contact their CPB contact. But it is pretty rare to begin with.

I never had any issues with the I-551 stamp, if I did it was brief and solved quickly. It was so much better that expired GC + letter!

My husband traveled internationally several times with an expired green card and an extension letter and never had an issue.

You got lucky! I suffered through having to convince people I didn't make up an "extension letter" in at least 5 countries.
