My undegrad degree is in History. I don't use it, don't want to, and I hated every minute of my university life and history studies    I'm very technically inclined, and I should have studied programming or maybe chemistry or biosciences. I chose history because when I was 18, all I wanted to was hang out with friends and party, so I thought history studies won't take much of my time. I was wrong - it was extremely hard, it wasn't in any way rewarding, and it was a waste of my time. I regret it big time - I'm thinking of getting a second bachelors just to try to erase that history degree form my record. And my memory :D

whenever you major in hte liberal arts people always say "what are you going to do, teach"

I majored in English and Economics, but I do not teach.

Both subjects were very useful in my career though and in life.

Hee hee.

BA Major: Liberal Arts (History and English focus)

BA Minors: Spanish and Philosophy

MA: I started in British history and switched after a year to English Literature

I had every intention of going straight for a Phd to teach college, but ended up getting a teaching fellowship in grad school and loved it so much that I am now a high school Creative Writing teacher and the English department head. So technically, I use my degrees b/c of the dept. head stuff, but I don't have an MFA, yet I teach Creative Writing.

I often wish I'd gone into a more lucrative field, because I am very good at mathematical and scientific areas, but alas, I do feel that teaching is a calling and it's what I was called to do. Thank god my fiance is a Comp Sci person....one of us will be able to make money :)

I am impressed with the number of music and scince majors here.

Bachelor's degree in Communication & Sociology (quite possibly the most pointless degree I could have chosen, and no, I've never made use of it), postgrad in Journalism. Not made much use of that either, although that's entirely my own fault for sticking with my previous job & hoping to get made redundant while applying for the K-1, instead of applying for new jobs once I'd finished the course. Could have made use of it, didn't, and now... here I am all unemployed and with no idea whatsoever what I'm going to do next, work-wise.

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

I have a degree in Taurocoprology, which is the study of bullS##t. I learned how to use it creatively, but most importantly I learned how to recognize it when it's being used , and how to make it work for me instead of against me. I mastered the subject so I would never be caught when my subject is about to hit the fan.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

My original major was Chem Engg.; unfortunately, the bottom fell out of Canada's oil industry a little before I graduated (due in no small measure to chopfrack Jean Chretien's National Energy Policy :ranting: ), so I switched to doing an Assoc. Degree in IT, followed by MSCS (at a US university); my basic work experience has been in IT.

The Canadian oil industry is in high gear now with the oil sand mining. A good time to get back in, though I am not sure I would want to live all the way up in Fort McMurray...not sure you would even be able to find a place to live actually.

Great question!!! It's been interesting reading everyone's posts.

Bachelor's: Russian

Master's: Social Work

It's funny, by midway through my junior year of college, I knew I wanted to be a psychotherapist and really didn't want a career using Russian. If I had changed majors and got a degree in Psych., I would have had to go for a year longer, so I went ahead and finished the Russian degree, knowing I needed to go to grad. school. For the Russian degree though, I had to take linguistics courses, which have actually come in very handy when helping couples with communication differences!

In college I double majored in Archaelogy/Anthropology and Welsh History.

In grad school I majored in Museum Studies with Minors in European History and Museum Administration.

Don't use the Archaeology/Anthropology or Welsh/Euro History much, but am now an Assistant Curator/Registrar in a museum so at least I am using something!

So cool:-)! I did my degree with a major in Classical Studies and a minor in Drama. I then went to college and did a diploma in Museum Technology, and worked the next 25 years as a Museum professional (Registrar/Curator of Collections/Curator/Exhibtion Design) and here in the States am currently working part-time as a docent at a heritage site. (don't want the headache of administration again). While I didn't work specifically in my field of degree studies I applied the skills I used to aquire that degree every day of my museum career.
