Many of my friends don't really work in any field that's at all related to what they studied during college. What was your major and/or minor? Do you use those subjects in your current job? If not, how come?

I was a Math major/Music minor. I use Math everyday at my job, but not Music. My Music minor was more for my own edification than preparation for a future job.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I started out as a Math major and was thinking of minoring music with the idea of teaching, but I ended up dropping out of those courses and taking studio art, finishing with a degree in Character Animation. :)

BA in history, minor in South Asian studies. I was actually a music major for 3 of the years but dropped it because I didn't want to be an operatic singer anymore. History was the thing I had a lot of credits in and good grades, so I finished up with that.

I have never used any of those things in a practical way. Mostly everything I learned was for my own edification.

I'll start my grad degree in August in journalism, and hopefully I'll be using that for a good long while.

My original major was Chem Engg.; unfortunately, the bottom fell out of Canada's oil industry a little before I graduated (due in no small measure to chopfrack Jean Chretien's National Energy Policy :ranting: ), so I switched to doing an Assoc. Degree in IT, followed by MSCS (at a US university); my basic work experience has been in IT.

My BA major was Sociology, almost had a minor in Psychology but was missing a class or two.

I haven't used it. I am glad I went to college though and I did like a lot of what I learned.

My last job was as a Preschool teacher, the only requirement for the job was a 4 year degree. Otherwise ,in my area at least, there are no decent jobs in Sociology unless you get a Masters degree in it.

I almost majored in Biology in college but changed my mind.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)
