1.  Yes, you can go it alone and submit everything to the NVC.   They provide a checklist on their website for all the documents you need to submit.  The only tricky ones would be DS-260 if your spouse has a complex past (lots of travelling,  visa denials, etc.), and the I-864 if you don't qualify based on your own income.

2. There may be value with sticking with your current immigration service if your case is complicated or if your spouse's country is a difficult one.  Where does your spouse live?

Thanks for your response!

My spouse lives in the UK (UK citizen) with me (US citizen). Our case is straightforward, with the only minor potential hiccup being my 2019 taxes haven’t been processed yet and I’m self-employed. So though my 2019 taxes show income in excess of the minimum, they’re not “approved” by the IRS yet and I can’t show formal paystubs from an employer and such.

We’re planning to submit a ton of extra financial evidence to help make up for this, as well as include my husbands assets in case there’s a gap, but still, it’s made me hesitate.

Have you gotten any answers yet regarding tax transcripts being required? I had read from a few different people that they submitted letters saying they were still waiting on tax transcripts but would have it for the interview and the Nvc approved it. I submitted all w2s, all pages of 2019 tax return, everything, along with a letter stating we’re still waiting on the tax transcript. I’ve done this twice now and they just keep denying us and saying we must have the tax transcript! Everything else has been accepted except that and it’s so frustrating. So we have to wait and keep waiting for this tax transcript which makes no sense to me.

Our consultation service says a tax return is fine, though we may be required to show a transcript eventually. To me, that sounds like they’ll need one before the approval but submitting a return to the NVC is okay. We’ll include a letter stating why the transcript isn’t available yet.

Not sure what’s going on with you though! Have you tried calling? That sounds very unusual and frustrating. You would think they’d understand how slowly the IRS is running at the moment. I would definitely try calling and getting someone on the phone, even if it takes an hour or two on hold. Let me know if you get an update!

Will Boundless charge additional fees for any "errors" they made, such as submitting forms from an expired form date, etc?  For submitting forms again?    Lawyers are not perfect, and mostly their staff does all the work.   For my wife and I, we did the paperwork ourselves, and the AOS process.  next is ROC and N-400.

They said they will charge $300 if we need their help to deal with an RFE from the NVC. However...I’m pretty sure RFEs happen at the I-130 stage, and not the NVC. And that the NVC gives checklists. Which doesn’t fill me with a lot of confidence in Boundless, to be honest.

Thank you for responding and giving your experience. We’re in Ireland so I’m just waiting for their office to open so I can call and beg for them to just approve it so we can at least have an interview date. I’ll let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed!

Bah. UK.  Just have your husband show up with 2 pints, share them with the CO, jab about Man U or Liverpool, and Bob's your uncle.

Seriously, your NVC submittals are relatively easy.  Submit a copy of your signed tax return with the worksheets/schedules.  You can include a statement that your tax transcript is not yet available, or wait to see if they ask for it later to send the letter.
