Any filer from Orlando, FL?

Hello!  I am glad to find this thread.  There are so few of us or at least "active" VJers from Orlando.  We submitted our AOS September 2019, biometrics October 2019, RFE January 2020, got EAD/AP February 2020 and also AOS "Ready to be scheduled for an interview" in February 2020.  We just submitted our EAD/AP renewal October 2020 without an interview in sight.  However, from what I have seen in other states, there is a chance the EAD/AP renewal will prompt an interview for AOS soon.

FYI, time for an interview now is between 11 months to 34-35 months.  So, yes, we are backlogged.  They are still working on cases from 2017. :(

That’s what I’m about to do for my husband. How did you all submit renewal if you don’t mind me asking? Also, I believe it depends on the case. I’ve say a few people from Orlando get an approval. So it really depends on the case and officer I think

Get an approval without interview or just get interviews with approvals?  I know sometimes they are waiving interviews but I have not seen any in Orlando.

NO problem at all!  You need to get the forms from www.uscis.gov for EAD and for AP.  For the EAD, you need to indicate it is a "renewal" and indicate our category (depending on whether your a K1, etc.).  Then, these are the documents we submitted for each packet:

AP:

·        Form G-1145 E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance for I-131 Renewal Application for Travel Document

·        Form I-131 Application for Travel Document for Renewal

·        Copy of previously approved Employment Authorization/Advance Parole Combination Card (Front/Back)

·        Copy of mailer for previously approved Employment Authorization/Advance Parole Combination Card (Front/Back)

·        Copy of I-94

·        Copy of full passport with K1 Visa included

(We decided to do the full passport because the K1 visa needed to be included.  Plus, we wanted to show he hasn't traveled too much - showing his intention to make USA his home.)

·        Copy of certified copy of marriage certificate

(We had one certified copy left so we kept it and only sent a copy of it (in color).  But, we plan on getting more certified copies from the court in case we get RFE.)

·        Copy of I-797C Notice of Action Receipt for filing I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (Front/Back)

·        Copy of I-797C Notice of Action Receipt for filing Original I-131, Application for Travel Document (Front/Back)

·        Copy of I-797C Notice of Action Approval Notice of Original I-131, Application for Travel Document (Front/Back)

·        Two (2) Passport-style photos

·        State ID Card (Front/Back)

EAD:

·        Form G-1145 E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance for I-765 Renewal Application for Employment Authorization

·        Form I-765 Application for Employment Authorization for Renewal

·        Copy of previously approved Employment Authorization/Advance Parole Combination Card (Front/Back)

·        Copy of mailer for previously approved Employment Authorization/Advance Parole Combination Card (Front/Back)

·        Copy of I-94

·        Copy of full passport with K1 Visa included

(We decided to do the full passport because the K1 visa needed to be included.  Plus, we wanted to show he hasn't traveled too much - showing his intention to make USA his home.)

·        Copy of certified copy of marriage certificate

·        Copy of I-797C Notice of Action Receipt for filing I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (Front/Back)

·        Copy of I-797C Notice of Action Receipt for filing Original I-765, Application for Employment Authorization (Front/Back)

·        Copy of I-797C Notice of Action Approval Notice of Original I-765, Application for Employment Authorization (Two Pages - Front/Back)

·        Two (2) Passport-style photos

·        State ID Card (Front/Back)

You do not need to pay the fees because your AOS submission is proof you already paid for EAD/AP and your AOS was submitted a while ago.  But, I know, there is a law trying to be passed where, after it is approved, any AOS/EAD/AP submitted after that will require fees again for EAD/AP renewal.

Let me know if you have any other questions.  We are in the process of gathering the information for the interview so we are not caught last minute.

We have been waiting a year and 1 month since submission, and 8 months since it said “ready for interview”. We are also family-based. It can take a while.

Our RFE was only a birth certificate (which we did submit, they just lost it). We wouldn’t have gotten EAD/AP approval/card and AOS ready for interview if they were still looking at RFE, which they are not because it was marked as accepted.
