Hi, I hope everyone is doing good.

As every year, a lot of people ask questions about the photo, size/background/editing/pixels, etc.

For me I'm aware of everything related to the photo requirement, after years of participation, and I'm going to ask a question that I already know the answer, but during this moment, and according to my situation, I'm going to blind my eyes, and try to look like I don't know the answer, so

- last year in a period like this I guess (October) I was on a trip, and I decided to take a photo of my fourth participation, in another city, because where I live, the photographers have poor quality and editing of the picture, they always made huge mistakes, from color temperature to re-size, pixels, background (they use photoshop... etc. so I asked a friend of me who lives in the north of my country and guided me to a good photographer who knows everything about the DV lottery photo requirement, so I took the train this city, and I took a picture there, and honestly it was perfect ( exactly as the requirement )

- and this year, everything is blocked here where I live, so I can't take a flight to the same photographer even bus still in the stand, and I don't have a car to go for a trip over 800km.

- also I don't wanna take a picture here, because photographer where I live they are awful

- my question is, do you think it's okay to register this year with my old photo (one year) I know that the rules said that the photo must be 6 months at least. I heard a friend one day told that his cousin, use one in 2 years, and in the next year, he was selected, I would like to hear your advice. thank you

Well, you know the rules so it is a risk you run. That said, I have been following DV a long time, and the only regular occurrence of denial on old photos I have heard of is at Bogota embassy (processing mainly Venezuelan DV selectees).

You know the rule so why are you asking if you don’t have to follow it? I think you know what you should do.

The photo for the Green Card Lottery must not be older than 6 months and must reflect your current look

Since July 2019, the US authorities have increased their efforts to ensure compliance with the participation rules and have also taken a close look at the photo. It may therefore happen that if you win with an old photo, you will be disqualified at the interview appointment and denied the Green Card. So don't take any risks!

Since we cannot check whether the submitted photos reflect the current appearance of the
