Yes I have a birth certificate from PSA. The updated one with an annotation that has my full legal name that I have been using ever since.

There is no date on the annotation except my parents' marriage date.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Anyone has an idea if this will complicate things when me and my partner file for K1 Visa?

I know of one case at USEM where an annotated birth certificate possibly extended the administrative processing by a bit, but it was for a different visa type.  Probably not a big deal for a K1.  In any case, you can only submit what you have, so no choice but to wait it out if any delay does occur because of your birth certificate.

What's important is for you to make sure that the first registered name on your birth certificate is listed in your NBI clearance AKA and in your DS-160 form's "Other Names" section, even if you never used the name in your daily life.  The fact that it is on your birth certificate makes it your previous legal name, so you must declare it on your forms.

Yes, I know someone who got approved already but it was for CR1 visa that has the same situation with me. She said to get an NBI with AKA. Thank you so much for the information. Also for mentioning that it should be on DS-160 too. I will keep that in mind. Thank you 😊

I'm sorry but we haven't filed yet ☹

I'm from the Philippines

The CO's at USEM have seen your situation more than you can count. They won't make this an issue.

Whether you just joined or not, finishing off your profile will help us answer your questions especially since we will know the country in which you are having your visa adjudicated. Timeline is not as important as your country, but the timeline will have a opportunity to display your journey when we go to answer a future question. Good luck and stay engaged.

BTW, VJ has sub-forums for each country or region where you can discuss and learn what types of issues that others are facing and how they are working through them. The Philippines subforum here on VJ is where you should be a part of the conversation. It's a good place to prepare you for your interview.
