Hi everyone! I just want to clarify one thing about my situation.. So my birth certificate was late registered, meaning I was born before my parents got married, so the document showed I was using my mother's maiden name there. But it was fixed already and a statement was added that says "Legitimated by subsequent marriage of (both my parents' name) on (date). This child shall be known as: [my full legal name (using my father's surname) which I have been using ever since]." Now my question is, do I have to put the name that was on there before (my name with my mother's maiden name) to the section "other names used" on I129-f k1 visa form? Even though I haven't used that name ever. Thanks in advance for those who can answer. I hope someone who has the same situation can answer too 😊

no harm.  When the time comes you will need an NBI with both names.

as your moms maiden name is on birth certificate yes you will put that name as part of other names. its on the legal records so better add it

With regard to NBI, I don't think they will have a copy with my name using my Mother's maiden name 😔

Dont worry about it.   NBI does it all the time..  You apply for your NBI with all names.  They know what to do.

This is a process that will have much more success if you not second guess what they want and what they won't want. When you are applying for your NBI clearance include each name whether you think it's important or not. If not, you are setting yourself up for delays.

Hi everyone. So I just got back from the local civil registrar and this is the timeline of my birth certificate lol

1991 - birth year

1992 - marriage of parents

1997 - original registration date

2020 - legitimation

So I think my parents had my name wrong when they first registered my birth by using my mother's maiden name instead of my father's surname.

Anyone has an idea if this will complicate things when me and my partner file for K1 Visa?

No, won't be an issue. What country are you interviewing in. That would help us to give you a more accurate answer.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

You need the  birth certificate from PSA not your local registrar

If you were legitimated, I believe your birth certificate should have an annotation stating your name was changed from XXX to XYZ through (the process).

Yes I have a birth certificate from PSA. The updated one with an annotation that has my full legal name that I have been using ever since.

There is no date on the annotation except my parents' marriage date.
