Probably because LA and the LA area are home to the largest population of Armenians outside of Armenia, and here we have the freedom of speech and assembly. If voices cannot be heard loud and clear on the ground over there, getting the signal amplified to a greater audience here is useful for increasing political pressure, especially for the US to do something.

But most of these people won't go home to help fight at all. They will just protest and hashtag everything. The only two Armenians I have seen fighting was in the Syrian Civil war and that is because they were deported for being part of a Armenian gang.

You obviously have never lived in or around Los Angeles. This is because Armenians are EVERYWHERE..... The homebased is Glendale where they control the city now and they are branching out to Burbank, North Hollywood, and Pasadena. There are more Armenians in the LA area than in the entire capital of Armenia.

I can see that, but I still agree with @Boiler, what does this have to do with the US?  Are they protesting for the US to intervene on the side of the Armenians?  Aren't there also a lot of folks from Azerbaijan living in the US as well.

They are wanting US to intervene even though Russia already has a base in Armenia.

Can you do your own on line, put in your text?

So we had a bit of a drive this afternoon before we went to the supermarket, and drove east through the city towards Hancock Park. If you watched the first series of American Horror Story, the Murder House is in Hancock Park. Anyway, we were chugging along on 6th Street and we were just about to drive past LACMA and the La Brea Tar Pits when we saw/kind of drove past a gigantic motorcade/convoy of cars flying American and Armenian flags, going westbound on 6th. I was driving, so I took pics only when I could at lights.

These were the first people we saw:

It's hard to tell from the pictures but the line of cars was almost six blocks long. (Please excuse the water droplets on this and the next pic -- I had washed the windscreen a minute before.)

The demonstrations are happening every day. I didn't get a pic of the guy in the huge Explorer dragging a Turkish flag tied to his bumper.

We also passed by a very, very small gathering of pro-Trump people further east from here, just four people on a corner. One was holding a Trump-Pence sign and another was holding a Blue Lives Matter sign, and he was getting in what looked and sounded like a disagreement with a police officer. I wanted to take a pic as I was at a light but then I thought: mmmmmm, maybe don't want a cop seeing I'm using a cellphone, even at a light. That ticket is no joke.

I have a FB friend of mine from Pasadena who is seriously considering going to Armenia and "doing his civic duty and fight for the motherland"

Wow. One of my friends out here is Armenian (born there, but came here when she was 6); her husband was born here. She says they are both "bad Armenians" because they don't pay much attention to what's happening over there, or Armenian culture in general.

Reports are that 20,000 people marched from the Fairfax District to Beverly Hills this afternoon to the Turkish consulate.

I know alot of Armenians who were born in Arab countries but ethnic Armenians, and yes there is a difference from what I have been told from the ones that came from Armenia. They are all upset in regards to what is going on but he is the only one actually talking about going over there to fight. What I can see is that many of the Armos will be the first to protest here in LA but won't go over to fight at all. All talk and no action.

BTW if you want a good Middle Eastern restaurant/bakery then check out Sipan Bakery over on W. Glenoaks Blvd. They are Armenian owned bakery but the parents came here from Aleppo, Syria. It is the best Shawarma food I have ever tasted here in the USA.

Was the Turkish Consulate open on a Sunday?

I know EXACTLY where you mean, I spent a lot of time cruising up and down Glenoaks as a teenager doing not much of anything. I've never been there, I have been to Adana many times, which isn't too far away from there, near the Trader Joe's on San Fernando.

I laughed when I went back to look at those pictures -- of COURSE there is a white BMW leading the pack.

What's funny is that is one of my best friend's biggest critiques of the Armenians is.: "They ride around Glendale in a Mercedes/BMW acting like they are all oppressed when in reality they aren't". He says this even though both he and his wife work for the city of Glendale, and they are both Hispanic

Nope on the consulate being open. I didn't even know they were marching/caravaning there until I got a notification about it half an hour ago on the Citizen app.

It's that hidden Armo network going on don't you know?
