Yes.  It will take as long as the security and background checks take.  They cannot approve anything until those are completed, which can take awhile for Pakistanis, even if they live in Canada.

What was the waiver for?

So when I met my husband Years ago...he was visiting the states on a visitor visa and after meeting me tried to come back but with his stupidity he didn't book a return ticket...just had it reserved but not definite...they didn't let him back in the US and barred him 5 yrs. Then we got married in Pakistan and had interviewed there but at the time we didn't use a lawyer because I was using a lawyer to get us to Canada my back up plan. Anyways we were not well prepared for interview and we hadn't living together for him to know every detail about me...needless to say officer thought our marriage was fake and refused us....we then both moved to Canada got file transferred and got a Lot of proof hired attorney and tried again...this time in interview the officer was convinced but said I need a hardship waiver...I thought how will I prove hardship I had none at the time...then my mother got cancer in the US....it required me and my siblings to take turns caring for her...she lived with my brother but my sister and I took turns flying back and forth to relieve my brother and help out....I was able to prove hardship...and waiver got approved in Nov 2020...now consulate asked for this form...I was looking at it...I really don't think it should take that long...my husband never uses any social media and has had valid decent jobs...what really will they find...I hope after this they will just issue visa without giving more interviews

Hi,

I had my interview on January for IR1 visa and submitted DS-5535 early February. (Montreal embassy).

I am still in background check (administrative Processing).

Have you received your visa?

Could you find any forum/group in which I can predict the processing time.

Thank you
