Well, Anna and I have returned from Paris. Paris was an adventure to say the least (there were quite a few Russians there). When we met I was so glad to see her, but we immediately fell into our routine -- it was like we had never been apart. We returned to the US through ATL. I expected nightmares (we lost Anna's x-rays at CDG), but our "interview" took less than two minutes. We weren't taken to the little office and we weren't even asked any questions. We chatted with the officer a little bit, but we didn't even talk about how we met or anything like that -- we just talked a little bit about Paris. Our flight out of ATL was cancelled, so we were stuck in a Country Inn there for a night, but Anna handled it better than I did. I was really concerned that she would just about melt in the Gulf Coast heat, but she's OK (relatively; she was here last summer so its not totally new).

She's just very happy -- not awed by the US, not awed by anything, just comfortable. She says its like she never left. She is very career oriented, but right now she is feeling very domestic (I had to remind her last night that she's not here to do all the cleaning, but I think she's nesting a bit). Frankly, I've never felt so comfortable with anyone. Besides, she brought a bunch of great Russian and Ukranian music (I can't understand a lot of the Ukranian, but I love a lot of the music).

Awesome news, Percival. Glad to hear it's all going well for you. (And glad to hear your plan worked! I wish I had half the luck and good timing you did!)

The next couple days are going to be some of the most memorable of your life. You're going to do 1,000,000 things in the few short hours you have together. She's going to nest a little, and that's good. Also good that you guys are comfortable together. But please, simmer down on the "no cleaning" thing. If she wants to clean, let her. Then send her up to my house so my wife will stop making me clean. She also "nested" when she got here. Non-stop Cinderella for about a month. After that wore off, I found myself staring at a sink full of dishes with pruney hands. ENJOY IT WHILE YOU CAN!!! It's not going to last forever! Whatever you do, never say "I'll clean the floor next time." She'll hold you to it, and while you're thinking Swiffer Wet Jet, she's going to "show you" how to do it right. A bucket of soapy water, a towel, and two sore knees. Of course, you'll do it all wrong, so she'll have to do it over. (Do it really wrong.... that way you don't have to do it again!)

I would say congrats, the hard part is over. Which is true, the hard part of the Visa Journey is over. But now, the hard part of the relationship begins. Good luck!!! If all goes well, you'll see the benefits far outweigh the costs. (I'm sure you see it already, and that's why you're doing it.) Keep us posted, and keep the AC on!

Slim, your replies are so funny. Everytime i read one of them it makes me crack up

I love reading about your wife and how she's training you to be a better husband :D

So funny to read about those buckets of soapy water and soar kness to wash the floor but that is so old and sooner or later she'll learn all about Swiffer Wet Jet and will appreciate it much better than being bent over and moping that floor on her knees :P

I don't know. I'm back in the dog house again, so she's fighting the fact that I could be right about anything. Hopefully, someday she'll come to her senses. After all, there's only so much the knees can take!
