Wife with CR1 visa traveling to US via Amsterdam or CDG

Hello,

My wife received her CR1 visa recently.  We are scheduling her flight, but for the dates we want the flights transit via Amsterdam or Paris.  I have heard stories about difficulties of spouses convincing airlines to board a plane to the US due to the EU travel ban.

What do we need to do?  I can book the flights, but do we need to contact the airline(s) in advance to get her on a clearance list, or will her CR1 visa be enough?  Has anyone's spouse travelled via those two airports recently (AMS, CDG)?

We try to avoid flying through Europe for same reasons you mentioned above.  Would definitely transit through AMS  rather than CDG.  Just keep in mind that if there is any delay or flight cancellation, she must stay in the transit area at all times.  We just returned from Ukraine in September using Turkish airlines flying through Istanbul.  I see they have flights to Boston.   Whichever airline you decide, the CR1 will be enough.

I am also interested to know as I am traveling to visit my wife in a few weeks and the transfer is in Amsterdam.

Another person just flew to Ukraine via AMS airport.  No problems.  But you never know from one week to the next as COVID-19 is spiking in Europe and in Ukraine.

I think it's not as difficult to fly to Ukraine.  The flight to the US is what worries me.

Our preference is to fly Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, but they have cut back flights to the US.  There are only flying 3 days a week to Boston.  Wife is being a bit stubborn about the flight date, on which only the flights via Air France or KLM are available.

I will try to convince her to fly a few days earlier to get on the Turkish Airlines flight.
