He needs it for the interview. Be sure to start early with your passport application as it may take some time to receive it.

Please reread the instructions for that section.   It says IF the alien is inside the USA then....

First there is a "quote" button. If you use it then we know to whom or to which topic you are referring your post too. Second, when someone helps you the considerate thing to do is acknowledge that you appreciate their help by selecting a response from the predetermined responses found in the right hand lower corner of the post. Most choose either "Thanks" or "Heart" as their response. Third, when factual information is supplied to your question we fail to see where that is "rude". The form instructions will give you most of your answers, but we have found people like to "read into the instructions" to what they think is the answer the form wants, but not what actually being asked for. So, my fourth recommendation is to take the instructions "literally" and without prejudice. In the end @payxibka's answer, though short and to the point, it was not "rude".

Ease up, as many of us answer questions and have done so voluntarily for years and our answers sometimes are straight to the point. We get all kinds of "questions" but to tailor our answer to each questioner's personality is difficult at best. Take your own suggestion "If my questions [answers] annoy you, PLEASE PLEASE refrain from commenting on my posts."

Good luck and stay engaged.

OP, there's also a search field at the top right hand corner of this forum. Most of the time, when you type in the specific question, you will get links to your answer. Unless of course it pertains to newly implemented rule/s (I-944, update of fees, etc.) Everyone on this forum is very helpful. You can DIY applications as much as possible instead of having to pay lawyers unless your situation is complicated (previous jail time/ multiple previous marriages, etc). They have also been here for years and are very much updated with the ins and outs of the US immigration process. Trust that they are asking you the right questions as they all want to help you be with your loved one as soon as possible :)

Good luck!
