Prolonged administrative processing is very common for Pakistan, for many reasons.  There is no way to know how long your background checks will take.

22 month?? Why they treat Pakistani like this..If you go European countries their AP is far less than ours..22 months is more than enough for them to get processed your case. Once, consulate open get help from lawyer or ask State rep or Senator to intervene. Still idling won't do anything.

sorry,   we have no valid help for the OP but it is much easier to get background checks done in Europe and very hard to do in Pakistan for many reasons like same names for many and the following:   talking about paper record keeping making security checking hard

The police and Police stations have its adequate importance all around the world in this era where the crime rate is very high, stations of Pakistan is also same. Currently, the police stations in Pakistan are utilizing the old method ( hard paper) of FIR registrations and which require extra efforts to maintain the record of criminals and trace someone;s record also require unnecessary time which can be saved by digitizing the police stations records. Although, some police stations do use digital record keeping in Excel sheets but the integrity problem is noticed in file based record also the access is slower for searching single record the officer.official has to go through all the records in the sheet which consumes extra time. The Excel sheets can only be used by a single person at a time and also they do not have any security mechanism, anyone who has access to the computer can easily access the sensitive record.

The poor criminal record keeping (and record keeping in general) in Pakistan is probably the primary reason, but there are others also - polygamy, cousin marriage, very common names, etc.

Been in AP for 17 months. No good reply from embassy his medical did expire in April he got email from embassy to come in and bring new medical which he did in July but still he isn’t approved for his visa! The embassy doesn’t reply sometimes and when they do it just seems like the same reply nothing new. Idk if the embassy is working on all cases I’ve been hearing mixed things I’m so tired of waiting it’s not fair 😩

I love how some people here seem to think it's okay to be waiting 3+ years to be reunited with your spouse. There is no excuse for being in administrative processing or whatever stage for  nearly 2+ years. Especially how common it is for Pakistanis.

It's disgusting. A background check does not take that long, I've worked at a security firm and know how they process these things.

The man has 2 kids. They should deny his case and give him a reason or approve it. Makes me sick.

If you have been in AP 17 months & your medical just expired in Apr?? How many medical exam have you taken?

it expires in 6 months. So after your first interview it would have expired long time ago, Right?
