Indian passport renewal/re-issue

Hello,

 

I'm an Indian citizen with US Green Card living in the US. My Indian passport expired in July 2020 (less than 6 months ago). I'd like to get it renewed/reissued. This page says that I'll need to explain "“why the passport was not renewed in required time frame": https://www.path2usa.com/indian-passport-renewal

 

Does anyone here have experience with providing this explanation? If yes, can you share what reasons you provided? Any idea what sort of explanations are considered reasonable in general?
