Sounds like someone has been in therapy for quite a while now.

Also, scars are only on the outside.

There's no need to be nasty about it. If you think scars aren't on the inside as well I'm pleased you haven't been abused like I have.

Not being nasty, but many of those things sounded like things I've heard from people who have visited shrinks.  Not saying it's not good advice.

As for the internal hurts, we all have them, they are part of life and what shapes us.  Whether we allow them to continue to bring us down, or choose to look back at them as lessons is up to each of us.  How we decide to let them affect us determines whether they are "scars" or stepping stones is what I am saying.  But no, I don't believe in mental scars really.  Just events that happened and we remember them.  How much/how often/how we view them is up to us.

So I listed an ad friday for a 3 bedroom rental for my parents.  It's priced pretty comparable to the competition and in a "transitional" neighborhood, going the wring direction.   Aside from the normal calls about viewing, I got 2 calls from "SOCAL" offering more than the listed rate and willing to pay a year ahead.  I've got one of those showings now.   Let's see what happens. . .

Good luck, hopefully you get it rented quickly.

Over on the other coast, we are seeing a pretty big uprise in home sales and rentals.  A real estate friend tells me that people from the NE are buying places over the phone, sight unseen, and paying a good bit more than appraised prices.  It's a crazy time for home purchasing, to be sure.  Two streets over, a small 2 bedroom house was up for sale, appraised for about $350-370k, and the guy was offered $500k for it.  Sale ended up not going thru, so now he's renting it for $3,500 a month.  CRAZY!

So what does going the wrong direction mean?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Ok, you two win.  Perhaps my choice of words were wrong.

But I think those "internal scars" only become such if we allow ourselves to dwell on them and let them bring us down.  I prefer to be sad, then get over it and put it far behind me. (It being whatever mental trauma we encounter).  Not saying it's easy to do, but I think it's best to do it.  If I were to allow the pain my ex caused me afflict me today, I'd be a hot mess.  Not worth it.

That's a good attitude to have about interior harms, but life isn't one size fits all, of course. :) Scars do fade, given time. You might forget I'm a bit younger than you, so it's all a bit fresher to me. :P :)

Good point.  Perhaps I have internal scars too, but due to the larger quantity and longer time, they cover each other up so much that I don't notice them as much as I used to.    Best advice I can offer is don't sweat the small stuff, and at the end of the day, it's ALL small stuff.   Easier said than done, of course...
