Abandoning K1 for CR1?

Hi all-- I have already filed the K1 a couple months ago. However, I have received a job offer to work in Japan where he is and would really like to go if I have the chance. As the contract is at least one year, I thought about withdrawing my K1 petition and just getting married in Japan while working there.

However, when searching about the requirements, I was confused. I am still living in my parents house and this is indeed my intended address for the foreseeable future. Would having a job abroad eliminate my chances for the visa? Also, for a CR1 are you allowed to use a joint sponsor? If anyone has advice I would so appreciate it.

With no US income you would need a joint sponsor unless you have more than 3 times the income requirements in liquid assets.

I noticed there are different versions for the Affidavit of Support. How do I know which one to fill out?

Depends on the visa.  For the k1 it is the i134.

YMMV

Thank you. At this point I'm thinking to just continue with K1 as planned. The i-134 comes first but I would still have to fill out a separate affidavit of support when it comes to his adjustment of status, is this correct?

And when you get to that part of the journey you will want to visit the adjustment of Status forum and read the guides

Marrying there fits good with your timeframe

marry and file CR1 sending notice with it to withdraw the K1

remember to file your US tax returns with your foreign income (adding form 2555 for exclusion which is $107,600 currently)

use parent's address on forms for US residency and be prepared to show US driving licence,  US bank records, etc to prove that

and have a joint sponsor ready as your income is not Us based unless the company is and can transfer your job here when you are ready

The support form then would be I 864 for you and joint sponsor ( i believe I 864 a for one that is not the main one on a joint tax return)

this is only my opinion and others may have better ideas but i like the idea that the immigrant can work as soon as entering the US (I 551 stamp on visa at POE allows that) and USCIS does the work for the SS # if you mark them to do it when you fill our ds 260

plus you dont' have to go thru the AOS long process and fees    In long run CR1 is cheaper and easier
