Anyone from the Seattle office would consider that to be fast. There are combo filers there who file I-751 in 2017 and N-400 in 2018 and are only just now, at the end of 2020, getting their interviews. The combo filers do get a raw deal in all this and (certainly in Seattle, maybe other offices too) end up having the slowest progression of all. In fact, for our Seattle filers group we recommend completing ROC first before even touching N-400 as this is proving to be faster, as crazy as that sounds.

Wow I’m sorry to hear that. I can’t even imagine having to wait that long. I think it’s always better to get done with I-751 first take a little break and go back to the game again but I understand why people do that as well.

Filed: Citizen (apr) Country: Canada
Timeline

My i751 was filed in January 2019, and I filed an n400 in January 2020.  In February 2020, my n400 was scheduled for an interview in April (which ended up being cancelled), but I did reach out to my congressman’s office.  They were able to confirm that both the i751 and n400 would be combined at the local office.

My interview for both is re-scheduled for next week.

It is a LONG process, but your time is coming!

Does he have any indication where his file is?
What messages/steps did he get on the ROC and his N400
should be something like:
NOA, Biometric, Ready for interview, transfered, interview scheduled (assuming there are no RFE's)

Depending on the where his file is, the N400 usually goes something like this:
NOA, Biometric, transfered, waiting for interview, interview scheduled.

Have him ask the tier 2 of the current location of his file.
It is not uncommon to be waiting this long, but it is not the norm. It could be a case of a file missing data or being misplaced.

He was recently able to convince a nice representative over the phone to start an inquiry for him which I’m assuming would be helpful if assigned to an officer soon.

All other representatives told him that they can’t do nothing before 44 months.

His online account says Ready to be scheduled for an interview since May 2019 but no indication on where the file is.

Thank you
