Been to the dmv multiple times, I am adjusting status on a K1 visa. I have just received my EAD/AP combo card which is what I needed to obtain my license. Even with it in hands they told me that USCIS has not updated my status so even with that in hand it means nothing??? Is there anything I can do. Is that even true? Should I call immigration and tell them tp update my status.

They need to find you in the SEVIS database. Unfortunately it takes a couple weeks to have it updated. So it's gonna be up to them to keep the application or not until your information is updated in the system.

DMV's will contact USCIS to verfiy the document. if USCIS does not return than DMV puts a hold to issue licence.

duh

Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) not Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).

Thanks for the correction. I still have SEVIS on my mind from back when I was an exchange student.

This happened to me.. but after like, 2 days I got a call from our local DMV saying I got verified/approved so now I got mine processed!

My DMV asked for my number and stuff and told me they emailed Immigration and basically sent scanned/faxed copies of my docs, IDK if your DMV did those... Mine seemed to be aware of what needed to be done. Good luck!!

We had similar situation in Oklahoma, even with the EAD/AP card in hand. DPS ran the case through the SAVE https://www.uscis.gov/save/save-casecheck system and it couldn't verify legal status the first time. They told us to go back as they ran a 2nd and 3rd step verification inquires https://www.uscis.gov/save/about-save/save-verification-process each taking about 3 days to complete. DPS also gave us a case number to check the status ourselves on SAVE https://save.uscis.gov/CaseCheck/CaseCheck.aspx We had to go back and forth to DPS 3 times on 3 different dates . Annoying and a big waste of time waiting in long lines at DPS but they finally got it right and got the DL. Best of Luck to you!

Thank you.. Those links you sent would I need to make an inquiry or just look it up myself? I saw I could put an alien number in to check a status. Is that only if an inquiry is made or when I am in the system it will pop up after I put my info in on the Search cases page?

What is preventing you from trying?

YMMV

This means the first step of verification was completed and they sent their decision ok DPS. At this point you may go back to dps and checked on the status of the driver license. In our case we went through a second and third step verifications before SAVE could confirm our legal status. Hopefully the got yours the first time.
