Do you guys think I should renew my gc while waiting for my interview for my naturalization? I can’t afford to have an expired driver’s license. But I was thinking it might take a long time also for the renewal of gc to be approved.

I got my 10yr Green Card right before applying for naturalization. It is always good to be covered and it gives you peace of mind.

As the previous comment says, at least you would get a letter that gives you a temporary  extension of your current GC.

Mine was set to expire in nov so last spring I renewed my 10 yr green card , I am still waiting for it but they did send a letter extending my GC for another year. Glad I did or I would be without a DL

I should renew my gc then. How long did it take for you to receive your gc extension?

Yup, I pretty much think that in all cases the extension is automatic as soon as you fill for the new GC.

I had my interview today in Sacramento office. I am glat my n400 application was approved. The whole process did not take more  than 25 minutes. The oath will be done later. I cant beleive my journey is over after many years of being resident and 16-month wait for the application to be processed. Thank you everyone who was here to support.

The officer was nice and friendly. No difficult question was asked during the interview. I had many documents to show but they did not even checked my documents. It was far easier than I expected. I regret the time I spent worrying about the interview and memorizing the details of the N-400. My advice to everyone who has interview scehduled is: be prepared but take it easy.

Congratulations! Regarding the interview being so easy, that's because you filed after five years (or more).

In my case, the interviewer was much more demanding and even admitted to myself that it was because I was filing only after three years.

So I think it is important to say to whoever files under the 3-yr rule that they still must prepare their interview well and have a solid case.

I'd say it depends. We were super nervous and prepared lots of documents but IO never asked. In and out in less than 15 minutes. Granted, however, we submitted a VERY long list of documents via the online account so perhaps they had gone through those already before the interview.

In my interview, the USCIS officer taking care of my case literally said that he would have approved me under the 5-yr rule with the evidence that I provided, but under 3-yr it is just not enough and they always have to push more.

So I have heard. I can't comment on your evidence as I don't know. As I mentioned, we had a LOT of evidence submitted via online account. I was responding to preparing documents for the interview, we were never asked to provide anything else.

I just had my interview in the Sacramento (CA) office and filed under the 3yr rule. It was super easy and got recommended for approval! Now we wait for the letter regarding the oath ceremony.
