Just thought to update you all.

My husband had his naturalization interview on Jan 5. He was approved. Hopefully soon he will be scheduled to take the Oath. The field office his interview was at was in Montgomery, AL.

For all of you still waiting for your interview, it will come. It took about 6 months to be scheduled an interview after his biometrics appointment which was in Atlanta.

I wish you all well.

Hi guys,

I had my interview last Tuesday. It started with a few general questions about myself and my travels, and the officer took my picture and fingerprints.

The test was easy. These are the questions I was asked:

1. The idea of self-government is in the first three words of the Constitution. What are these words?
2. How old do citizens have to be to vote for President?
3. What are two ways that Americans can participate in their democracy?
4. Who was the first President?
5. Who was President during the Great Depression and World War II?
6. What major event happened on September 11, 2001, in the United States?

Unfortunately, I wasn't approved. The officer said that I needed to present more evidence of living together with my wife. He also told me that my case was solid, but as I applied after only 3 years, they needed to be extra careful (he even said that if I had filed after 5 years, I would have been approved).

So he gave me a paper with a few things that would be nice to submit, nothing really hard to get. The most annoying is that I have to get a notarized declaration from one of my neighbors saying that we have been living in our current address for the past 3 years but even that will be relatively easy to obtain.

Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone,

Hi , still waiting for a date for interview and test, they are using my old biometrics. I am in Atlanta , anyone else from here been waiting this long? Also I applied to renew my 10 year green card last spring just in case as it ran out this November, at least I got a 1 year extension and could get my drivers license renewed. Seems to be taking forever 😆

Have you heard anything? They used my old biometrics too last year February. Until now I haven’t heard anything yet. I applied since October 2020 and didn’t think about renewing my green card. I didn’t know it will take this long. My dgc is going to expire this April.

Hi. I filed my N-400 October 2020. Received my NOA right away and then got a noticed saying they used my old bio last year February. After that my case was just stocked. My gc will expires this April. I applied N-400 in advanced because I don’t wanna face this kind of problem but I guess it still did happen. I’m from las vegas. Can you guys help me? What number to call? Or can I call the local office to asked them about my case? Thank you in advance.

Hello fellow October Filer. I also filed in October 2020 and  got invited for interview only last month. It feels awful to have no option but to wait. We are, however, left with no other choice. As far as I know, you can make an inquiry after certain date when your cases is considered as delayed. If your filed office is 'Las Vegas NV', then the processing time is 12.5 to 17 months, which means your case is not considered as delayed so far (screenshot). I just checked this for you and it seems they receive inquiry from September 2020 filers right now. This means you probably can make an inquiry in a month time. You will get the link for making an inquiry from here. Choose your office and check the link in the last pargarph.

On another note, are you sure your office is 'Las Vegas NV'? You can find your filed office by entering your Zip code in the link below (bottom of the page)

Hope this helps.

Hi again, it does not matter where you sent your application to. The processing time depends on your 'filed office'. Go to the bottom of the page below, enter your zip code and find your field office first.

Then, check the processing time for your office from here. This will tell you when you can make an inquiry.

Yes. Sadly, the processing time of the offices vary a lot. For some field office is remarkably longer. We have field office with processing time of less than 8 months and there are also field offices with the processing time of 20 months. All of this obviously are based on the average time so not everyone in the same office waits as long. You should be able to make an inquriy in a month time. Hopefully, you get invited for interview before then.

Thank you so much. He lives here in las vegas as well that’s why I wondered what happened to my application.
I’m really hoping I get good news before my gc expires in 3mos.

You may not worry about the Green Card. You can go to interview with an expired one. Mine is expired too and I am going to interview next week.

I’m actually worried about my driver’s license. If my gc expires and so as my driver’s license which will create a problem in our household.
good luck on your interview 🙏🏻

We filed N-400 on October 18, 2020 and did not get bio appt until August 2021, which we were able to take in July 2021 when we had our i-751. From there, it was pretty fast, interview was on November 22, 2021, did not get approved on the spot but a few hours after. We just took the oath on January 14, 2022. Our office is San Jose, CA. I hope it helps waiting folks have a point of reference for timeline estimation.

Do you guys think I should renew my gc while waiting for my interview for my naturalization? I can’t afford to have an expired driver’s license. But I was thinking it might take a long time also for the renewal of gc to be approved.

Mine was set to expire in nov so last spring I renewed my 10 yr green card , I am still waiting for it but they did send a letter extending my GC for another year. Glad I did or I would be without a DL
