Timeline

Hi Everyone!
Here is my timeline (Salt Lake City, Utah)

Application received 10/05/2020

Letter for biometrics reuse 01/20/2021

Interview schedule letter 07/01/2021

Interview date 07/29/2021

Interview went super smooth, officer was really nice. He told me I was approved and that the Oath Ceremony would take place in a few minutes. He sent me to the waiting room, honestly I was super excited to take the Oath right there 🤗 then around 25-30 minutes later an officer came out to tell us the system stopped working 🤦🏽‍♀️ so we wouldn’t be able to take the Oath. Next day I got a phone call asking me if was possible to be there in 30 minutes to take the Oath, unfortunately I was more than 1 hour away from the USCIS office 😢 so now my status is Oath will be scheduled, has been 3 weeks since my interview and still impatiently waiting.

  • 2 weeks later...

My husband had his n-400 interview August 26th. We arrived at Federal Plaza NYC at 10:30 for his 10:55 appointment, they told us to come back 10 minutes later as you can't arrive move than 15 minutes before. We got to room 8-100 and the security guard told me I cannot go inside with him, only the petitioner is allowed in. So I sat in the park across from Federal Plaza for FOUR HOURS. They took him in the room at 2:15 and he was out by 2:45.

He passed the civics test with flying colors. We put together a humongous binder with copies of everything we have together, utilities, lease, insurance, 401K, bank statements, 150 photos from 2017-2021, wedding album etc. He didn't ask for ANY documentation, literally not even one document. However, we didn't include my W2's (even though he had tax returns for the last 3 years) and his *first* 2 year greencard (he only took his 10 year gc with him). The officer said he needs to come back on Tuesday (today) 8AM, to deliver the remaining documents. My husband went there this morning, hand delivered the documents to the officer, was in and out in less than 5 minutes. The officer then called his cell when my husband got in the car asking about my W2's, my company is HQ'd in Washington DC however my office is in NYC so he wanted to clarify why the W2 had Washington DC- so my husband explained why and then the officer said ok no problem thank you for the explanation "we will mail you a notice with the decision"....

And the wait begins.. I'm so bummed out- i thought this would all be behind us but unfortunately we have to wait and see what they decide. I don't foresee them not approving his application, can anyone think of a reason? I would assume the officer would let him know if there were any issues, right?

Had my interview on Aug 3 and the Oath ceremony on Aug 6, so I am officially a citizen! :D

The interview was pretty good, the usual civics questions and then reviewed the whole application with me.

The only thing that took a lot of time was reviewing all my traffic tickets lol, I drive too fast, but the thing that concerned the officer the most was that all the fines were paid and nothing was owed to any government agency. He wanted proof of any ticked I had ever received, and it took a while lol.

Then I got scheduled right there for a ceremony on the 6th, where nobody is allowed to come with you. Also, you have to wear a mask in the USCIS building no matter your vaccination status, so don't forget it!

Good luck everyone!

Nothing since biometrics in February. I’ve seen very little reports of anything being scheduled recently. Last person that called out an interview being scheduled on the NJ thread was someone in July who got an interview in September.

I'm from NJ and applied online on October 8, 2020.

I actually got a biometrics reuse a couple weeks after that in November 2020. And nothing since then, only the case completion date was a disaster since it first said completion time July 2021, then in April changed to May 2021 and then it jumped to say approximately 9 months until decision, although now It says 2 months from now.

I don't know if its somehow connected, but I have two friends who came here on fiancee visas and filed for Greencard in NJ around summer of last year and they recently had their interviews.

Had my interview yesterday at the Montgomery, AL office. I went in my military uniform and aside from the frost desk guard, everybody was super nice. There were two other military guys there.

The interview went smooth, except that apparently there was someone else's picture on my file, but it was quickly fixed.

The agent asked me that question: "The Federalist Papers supported the passage of the U.S. Constitution. Name one of the writers." and I responded with "Alexander Hamilton". Then we proceeded to geek out about Hamilton because we were both big fans of the musical.

I asked him if I was going to to do oath the same day, and he said he would have to confirm because with me being a Florida Resident I would usually have to do my oath somewhere in Florida because of some law on how Florida residents need a judicial oath. But he said because of the pandemic, Florida had temporarily waived this and he wasn't sure if it was still in effect because he had just gotten back from some time being absent from work. He got his answer and told me I would swear in that day.

It was a group swearing in which nobody recited the oath; the agent simply read it and we replied with I do and that was it.

I have my certificate and this Saturday I will be applying for my Passport. After I get it back from the state department I will head over to SSA to update my stuff, and also register to vote!

It was a long journey ever since my GC in 2014. Damn this was crazy. Now it's time to start all over again for my wife. 😭
