Hey guys!

So long story short, I am married my wife in Aug 2019. She is in Jordan & I’m in the US (also a US citizen). Now but here is the thing as some of you might know over there, there is the engagement where you do all the legal paperwork, and then the marriage when you get married and consummate the marriage (Have sex for the first time). So right now I have a marriage certificate and paid a dowry and all of that. But in the culture over there we would still be considered engaged. I filed the I-130 and I-130A in Feb and got the approval from USCIS about a week ago. So here is the thing I don’t know if I was supposed to file the I-130 or not and It seems I’m in no mans land because I couldn’t file a K-1 for her but also we’re not “fully” (According to the culture over there, but in every day life in the US I refer to her as my wife) married but we might not be married enough for the CR-1. So at this point I don’t know what to do. Am I on the right path or what should I do? Any advice would be greatly beneficial. Thanks for everyone’s help in advance.

Also I talk to a lawyer but he really don’t give any clear advice other than consummate the marriage secretly, so yeah that not a fan favorite for the wife lol.

One last thing she is my cousin which is normal over there but not so much over here. Please try not to haeckel me about that thanks!

Doesn't matter how it is regarded 'over there.'  If she is your first cousin, you may well run into problems with first cousin marriage being illegal in most US states.

So you were there for the legal paperwork, paid the dowry, and got the marriage cert,  so then why with all that done is the relationship considered as only being engaged? But you considered yourself married?

A friend of mine married her first cousin , she lives in California also, and was never brought up at the interview in France.
