I'm sorry they've responded that way. I hope one of the options I listed is successful. If you apply for insurance on your own, the company should be able to give you a "refusal letter" if it comes down to that. I really hope you can get a resolution quickly. Please keep us posted with any updates.

Unfortunately calling attempts to figure out situation with appointment were all unsuccessful.

We called 2 offices, one just hung up immediately after picking up the phone. Another person picked up the phone and was almost yelling at me every time I tried to say anything, stating I'm not the only one having a problem and they're doing everything to accommodate every one. After my question to confirm that I'm at least going to get an appointment, I just got an answer that he told me to wait until the manager gets to you in 3 weeks.

I was even lucky to get an offer from a employer to just present SSA so they will expedite the appointment and they simply don't care.

How long might I ask you were in administrative processing for, please? @JenIE ?

Our interview was on a Friday, October 16th, so it took 9 business days for us. The piece of paper my husband was given had said it could take up to 15 business days.

It been a while since I posted here we got our visa in June and October 3rd we arrived in the USA. Things a going slow for now with quarantine around and not having any documents on hands.

However we got another trouble with papers, this time with SSN. After 3 weeks we were supposed to receive it, and we didn't get it in result we ended up calling SSA office to figure out why that happen, and apparently they have no information about my unless the one printed on my visa, so then need to schedule another interview, which can not be done unless you have urgent reasons to receive it. So now it seems our only way to receive it it either getting insurance which will request SSN for me or get an job employer to request it upon hiring.

Does anyone know anything about this and how better resolve it?

I wouldn't like to rush into first job just to get SSN. We were planning to get insurance, but not sure if they will request a SSN.

This happened for us...

We were expecting the SS number and nothing arrived for months...

Of course, all the SS offices were shut down for in-person appointments...

But, after calling many times, we were able to get an interview in-person.

This is what you need to do:

#1 - call your local ss office to schedule an interview (keep calling until someone lets you because they are still doing these)

#2 - if you are unsuccessful at first, fill out an ss-5 form and mail it to your local office with your passport (they will return your passport to you in the mail)

#3 - once you receive the passport back, call the SS office again and ask to speak to a manager tell them you have an impending need for an SS number (for this you need a job offer letter or something similar)

Stay persistent with this... they are still doing interviews for new SS numbers but they won't tell you that they are!

We finally got ours after many attempts so I know firsthand that this works :)

Best,

Robert

Great news today for us! Although the Dublin Embassy shut down again last week and are no longer conducting interviews, because we had ours right before, they are still doing administrative processing. Today our status changed to ISSUED! Hopefully we'll have the Visa in hand in a couple days! 🎉

Thank you for this step by step advice! I'm hoping we won't need it, but given how crazy everything is with shut downs I suspect I will. Definitely saving this info!

Thank you so much for your advice!

Did they let you know the date of appointment at once? Because we got to some reps and they told they will provide our information to the manager and they will schedule an appointment. Once it will be scheduled they will call us, but I don't really believe that's the case. I was calling to figure out if we are scheduled and no one gave us a answer except wait.

It's so stressful to talk with those representatives, they are extremely rude and usually just hang up on you.

I received my  interview appointment letter on Monday, 26th and had the medical exam on 27th. I checked CEAC status today, 29th and it shows my case had been updated (29th). What could that mean

Does your medical location electronically send the exam results? If so, maybe they updated that in the system. When we had our interview scheduled the case was updated a few days after our medical and they had also reviewed our documents because they let us know some info on our police certificate was wrong.
