Hi everyone, just want to update that we submitted our NVC packet exactly one week ago and were DQ today. No idea how/why it went so fast since our expedite was denied.

Congrats! There's definitely no rhyme or reason when it comes to how quickly cases get DQd. I've seen people receive a DQ within hours, others within days, while others take months. That's great that you got past this step so quickly -- Dublin Embassy doesn't seem to have much of a backlog, so I'd think that as long as they don't shut down the Embassy again due to Covid cases that you'll get an interview before the end of the year even without expediting.

Oh man that's a good question. I've been nervously watching the Covid cases steadily keep going up in Ireland and I was worried that our interview would be cancelled, but luckily it still went ahead this morning. On the good side, Ireland's cases are still lower than a lot of other countries, some of which are still performing Visa interviews, so I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for you!! 🤞

Thank you for your crossed fingers and good vibes! So happy for you and your husband on your approval! Congrats! I'm sure you will sleep better tonight then you have in a long time!

You mentioned above that they asked for police certs with middle names? My husbands police cert doesn't have his middle name on them either.. did they request this ahead of the interview or at the interview? If I remember correctly it took us a few week / maybe a month to get the certificated from Ireland and the UK...

They say that the police cert should have his name exactly as they have it on his passport. His passport does not have his middle name on it, but his birth certificate does.

Thank you! And yes it's a huge relief -- I actually got the phone call around 1:15am here in the US and then had trouble going back to sleep! 😂

We had obtained a police certificate with the names my husband thought were official, but then when we got the interview checklist email from the Embassy it stated that the certificate must have ALL middle names that appear on your BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Upon closer inspection of the birth certificate we realized that he has TWO middle names -- one that he thought was only given to him when he was baptized. We had already requested a replacement as soon as we realized the error but then when I went to upload the document in the online portal I saw that the Embassy had rejected the Police Certificate with a note that it did not match his official name. I then replaced the document in the system and put in a note that it now had all official names and there were no problems during the interview. The people there commented that it's actually pretty common for Irish people to realize during this process that they have extra official middle names that they never knew about.

So long story short, I would ABSOLUTELY request another Police Certificate with your husband's name exactly as it appears on his Birth Certificate as soon as possible. In our case, my husband lives in Dublin and that is where they mailed the Cert from, so he was able to get the replacement in about 3 days from the time he requested it.

Okay you're right we will request a new one ASAP. Hopefully we will be all organized by November 3rd! I am so appreciative of this site and the support and information!

Oh I know, this site has been so helpful with how to navigate this process, fill out forms properly, etc. And I'm happy to get the opportunity to pay it back a bit and provide our experiences to hopefully help other people.

Obviously every case is different and some get more scrutiny than others, but let me know if you have any other questions before your interview, since you'll be interviewing at the same embassy. It seems like you're pretty on top of the required documents so I'm sure it'll go well!

Thank you! I will be sure to pay it forward with more info to the group when our interview goes ahead (hopefully as planned and without any issues!)

I had the same issue with my police cert and had to get it updated with my name as it appears on my birth cert. They had the new one sent out to me within a week of applying. We also had to update our marriage cert to the long form as it needed to include our parents details on it.  I'm also in the same boat with regards to the embassy and the government restrictions changing, my interview is scheduled for next Friday.

My fingers crossed for you too that the Embassy continues operations regardless of the Stage of Restrictions and that you have your interview next week. Definitely keep us posted -- I'm looking forward to seeing more approvals out of the Dublin Embassy!

Cuba, however, is on hold due to their airport closure.  Check the US Embassy Guyana page...go to the Consular post review the questions and answers regarding Cuba.  They said although Guyana facilitates the interviews the Embassy in Havana gets all information first.  Also, I would inquire to their visa George email for a case specific answer if I were you.  Guyana resumed spousal and children October 1st.

Hi Did you receive Interview Date from Guyana Embassy as yet?

I know I posted earlier but we have since decided to go ahead with the interview on November 2 and move to US in March now.  It kind of sucks because our two year anniversary is April 28 but with a November 2 date and the medical needing to be issued before that I don't see how we can make the two year anniversary date so we will be CR1 and will have to adjust status.  We also won't finish the school year and go in June like I planned.  But, we are all ready to go so we will go early, let her daughter go to the school in my town for the last two months (not worrying about grades - just practice her English) and then sell my house and buy another and move to Lincoln over the summer for the new school year.  We may have her do Grade 9 over since this year will kind of be a bust.  I'll let the Lincoln school decide that.  There are a lot of Vietnamese in Lincoln and they have a good ESL program for Vietnamese there.

Congrats Jen!

I know you've been watching Dublin closely - how soon are you seeing people get interview appointments after the embassy reaches out? We aren't in Ireland at the moment, and will need to return for the interview + do the medical examination. On that subject - would you happen to know if we can do the medical examination in a different country (at that country's approved medical physician)?
