Interesting about CR-1/IR-1.

We had a consultation with an immigration lawyer and they suggested that K1 process, even during this uneasy time, is faster and safer route to take.

Currently in these times they are running about the same. The caveat to a CR-1/IR-1 is the fact that the wife will have a green card waiting and the ability to start work shortly after arriving whereas the K1 will need to marry, file AOS which currently is taking beyond two years in some cases and 7-12 month wait for employment authorization. Let's not forget that a CR-1/IR-1 is less expensive to process from the interview through the GC process than K1.

This just doesn't seem normal.

Patience is crucial, frustrating though it is.

Say -- go into your timeline and specify Ukraine as the country.  It's currently showing the default of Armenia.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hey All! Guess I finally found some people in the same boat. Been 5 weeks and still nothing on my I-129f. No cashed check. Hope it comes soon, I'm starting to seriously doubt if it's lost or what not. This just doesn't seem normal.

Pre-pandemic they were processing about 2 weeks. Then abut 3 months into the pandemic we started to see thirty days now it's up to six weeks. My guess is that another week and you will see activity on your case.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Our check was finally cashed! It appeared on my bank statement early this morning which probably means that they cashed it on Friday, just like @dmeister3. I am curious to know why there was a delay in processing compared to folks who had applied even just a few days before us, but I doubt we will ever know. Anyway, for those scrolling through and still waiting, our application was received on October 29 and my bank is showing that the check was cashed on December 7.

It will be nice to update my profile so it stops automatically changing our Consulate to Armenia.

I submitted my docs on 11/2/20 - received 11/5/20 via UPS - so far nothing ... crickets .... I understand how busy things can be but the lack of info is almost disrespectful for us Americans, tax payers .... besides this service is not free and their delay processing is also negative to USCIS itself - imagine having thousands of dollars in checks and credit card to be processed for revenue stopped because of your inefficiency? - I am writing the USCIS Ombudsman a letter and also sending copies to my Congress and Senate representatives ....

Hey thanks for the info! As far as my timeline, I guess I'm not sure what I'm missing? I went back and looked and answered everything I could possibly know right now. The one thing missing is where it says:

USCIS & Consulate Filing Locations:

USCIS Lockbox (if applicable):

The dropdown doesn't have Dallas Lockbox as an option. Should it? Otherwise everything else is all that I know right now.

Thanks again! Here's to hoping this is the week. Sounds like it should be.

Yep welcome to the good old inefficient US Government. God forbid you should need to talk with them. This whole process is broken to say the least. Number one, there should be an expedited option for anybody willing to pay for it. Heck quadruple the price! Why not? Anyway I'm holding off until after mine is processed and approved and then I very much plan to do exactly what you say. Also 90 days is idiotic. It should be 6 months minimum and there should be an option for some kind of special visa for your fiance while you wait. Anyway good luck!

I did update my profile with all the information I have (only file date and Embassy) - I am mailing a letter to the USCIS Ombudsman today (certified)

Americans have the right to petition the government and that is what I am doing. Again I pay my taxes (more than the current president) and I am paying for this service - so I want to have an explanation from them about my request - we will see

Yeah they work for us, but people often seem to forget this fact.

If you use my links in my instructions, then you should have it completed in less than five min. You're in the California service center and not Texas. Your time line is fine.  When you get everything done you should see a flag for the embassy where you will interview and your visa type.
