Thanks. I only received an email with a letter indicating it was being sent to embassy but not the official welcome letter with the case# and invoice ID.

The letter from NVC usually takes 2-4 weeks to be received by the petitioner. "your mileage may vary"

My case went to first “Ready“ on Dec 10th then got a second “Ready” on Dec 16th, but I still haven’t received the “welcome letter” from NVC.  Should I be expecting a welcome letter in the mail? I have not scheduled the interview yet as I know Vietnam requires the beneficiary to receive packet 3 before we can schedule the interview.

You don't need the welcome letter if you have called and received your case number. You follow the directions from the links and information from here:

Here is some information including the Embassy P3 for you to get a head start

P3 Letter

https://vn.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/required-documents/

https://vn.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/40/K-Instruction-Package.pdf

Usually, you will not receive the P3 letter in the mail. Do an online service request. They will respond typically in 2 -3 days with the instruction (P3). You will need to submit D-160 and pay the visa fee, then schedule the medical afterward. Technically, you will need the P3 to complete the medical exam, although some have gotten by with just the interview confirmation. I wouldn't risk it and would just request that they email it to you via: https://vn.usembassy...a-inquiry-form/  When using the form be sure to add in the comments section the last 4 digits of your SSN or they will email you back asking for it which causes further delays.

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

We received the packet 3 information in the mail. It was just a letter providing the link to get it online “https://vn.usembassy.gov/packet3k” which is the same version that Greenbaum posted. Along with this letter, we received a copy of the i-129f form we submitted with an approved stamp and a domestic violence pamphlet. 😅

For some reason when I click on my own link it added a period at the end which makes it not work. Remove the period and it will load the correct P3 packet.

Anyway, I have all the info I need for now. Thank you.

I track my case online and it was “Ready" on December 15th, should i go ustraveldoc.com to register for address in Vietnam to receive P3 packet?

Thank you

We have posted the links for all the information that you need to secure your visa. If your embassy is processing K-1 visas, then follow the instructions in the P3 letter (K-Instruction-Package.pdf (usembassy.gov) on what to do. Getting the interview appointment is crucial. Without that you can't move forward. So, complete the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, pay the MRV fee and schedule the appointment. Be sure to schedule your medical exam at least 2 weeks out from the interview to give the exam results time to reach the embassy for your interview. You are now in charge of how fast things will move. Good luck and stay engaged in the process.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Hello Lam. I assume you are petitioning for your fiancee in Vietnam, correct?

short answer: packet mailed Dec 17, packet received Dec 22.

For me, there was two ready date. First on Dec 10 when the embassy received the package from NVC, then I got another ready on Dec 16 when embassy prepare to mail the packet3 info.  I created an account online with an updated mailing address but I did it a little late after the second ready so the packet3 was already mailed to the mailing address I put on the I-129F.  They used the address on the I-129F form instead of on the additional information page where I had written a more complete address.

Delivery service sent a text message with tracking number to the phone number in Vietnam that I provided and we were able to track the letter.  We saw that they were having trouble so my fiancee reached out and worked with the delivery service to get it delivered to the correct place.

According to the tracking info, the delivery service received the packet on Dec 17 from US Travel Doc, made their first delivery attempt on Dec 21 and they were finally able to deliver the packet on Dec 22.  Note: text msg with tracking info was sent to my fiancee on Dec 21 when they first attempt to deliver the packet, not on the date embassy send the packet.

Throughout this process, I did not have to reach out to embassy at all. However, if you had your “second ready” for over a week or two, I think you should reach out and check.

Anyhow, the packet is basically just a letter with the link for you to go to and get the file online. Check my previous post for the letter I posted if you haven’t already.

Yes. I waited til after receiving the packet3 to schedule the interview.  You can go over to the Vietnam forum to see if anyone else might have done anything differently.

I am sure my way is slow since our travel plan is not anytime soon, so I have been extremely patient due the pandemic.

No. Please complete your profile. Thank you.

Here's some tricks to use when answering and wanting to quote someone.

First, when you use the quote button, go into a LONG posts that you are quoting and if there isn't a need to have the entire post, just delete a small portion of it, but leaving enough of the original post so we can understand what you are replying to.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1krDA5e93LXA3JbzBl8Zo-pvBjpNlLJam/view?usp=sharing

Second, you can use the "@" sign in a blank reply box then begin typing the person's nick to bring up a list with their name and select their name. If it is done right, you should see a blue box around their nick like this @Greenbaum. When you use the @ sign you would use it in a blank reply and not a "+" reply.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MDRnqzVsqYuInL1iSIyuxaMOj52yDAxb/view?usp=sharing

Third is just to use the "heart" icon and select "thanks". Don't really need to say thanks in a quote. (using your example, you were making a comment and a thank you so the way you presented yourself is fine.

No. This is what I meant by the second ready. Your first one was on Dec 15th and now the Ready date change to Dec 30th. So embassy should be sending your finance the packet3 and she should receive it soon.

She went to her interview today and was told by the consular she is approved. She didn't receive any slip with the determination. Checking https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/ it went from ready to Administrative Processing. I believe this is natural progression but she's worried that we're gonna get stuck after looking up what it meant online. He didn't ask for any of the additional evidence she brought with her and even returned the photos I sent them back when they issued an RFE. What do you all think?
