Kind of a random question but my husband (petitioner) and I have a toddler and an infant. When I go in for my green card interview and he needs to come in with me, are we permitted to bring in our toddler and baby? It’s a pandemic and our in laws are at risk and isolating, and our other family member and friends work and can’t come with us to the city.. so I’m trying to be prepared for needing child care if necessary, but I’m a nursing mother so cannot leave my infant for long periods in other people’s care. Anyone who knows what Seattle’s stance on bringing kids into the interview is please let me know. I tried calling but couldn’t get through.

It is pandemic, they don't allow anyone in except you and spouse, leave the kids at home or babysitter.

I’ve explained I’m a nursing mom and can’t use a babysitter for my infant. Do you know for a fact that Seattle won’t allow my kids in or are you commenting your opinion?

Be nice if you actually had a source to back up your comment.   Below is the official visitor policy for USCIS field offices.  Please see bullet point #4.

To limit the number of people in the waiting room, applicants with scheduled appointments may only be accompanied by:

  • An attorney;
  • An interpreter (if permitted under specific guidance regarding interpreters for affirmative asylum interviews);
  • A parent, legal guardian or a trusted adult, if the applicant being interviewed is a minor;
  • Immediate family members listed as dependents on the application or interview notice; and
  • An individual assisting a disabled person.

YMMV

Not that in Houston, a relative was rescheduled because they couldn't connect an interpreter on the phone and they wouldn't let the friend interpreter in. Don't copy and paste if you don't have a clue.

Even in what I copied, the interpreter admission has IF PERMITTED specific guidance

Talk about clueless

Bring it and reason it with the IO.

The furloughs must be so deep that the IOs are now working security at the door as that would be the only reason one would need to "reason it" with an IO.

Our interview was just before COVID hit (January 30, 2020), in Seattle.  We don't have small children, but there were children of all ages in the general waiting room.

Personally, I wouldn't leave small children with at-risk parents.  Nor would I leave a nursing infant.

Unless you find a very specific new rule about it, I'd say you should take them.  Is your toddler able to wear a mask for short periods of time?

She is but sometimes she gets irritated with it and takes it off. Hit or miss on that one. She’s under 5 and is generally not required to wear one, but I will definitely try and bribe her with a marshmallow to keep it on haha.
