Well get ready for even more furloughs now.

Fortunately (?) the new fiscal year starts tomorrow.  But they need to fix the income soon or they will run out of $$$$ early next year.   USCIS is funded by user fees and not tax dollars.

Its about time those slacker get fired though.  Just look at the processing time for the last 4 years. It smells inefficiency all the way .

Lol, we were approved in about 20 or 30 minutes at an international field office 2 years ago.  The queue stateside is a real issue.

This hold comes as a breeze of hope for many immigrants including my self. That price increase was ridiculously high specially for few categories like naturalization.

LA county is notoriously slow. In normal times, it usually takes about a month to get your certified copy. The clerk's office is literally closed physically and they are all working from home (I called and talked to a nice lady who told me that). She said to expect 4-6 weeks now, but I sort of doubt it. You don't need an appointment to get your certified copy -- they send it to you, so there's nothing to do to move it along. But on the other hand, I do get to celebrate with my family in my childhood home, which is worth more than waiting around a few extra weeks (especially when EAD and AP aren't a concern for us). :)

Off topic, but where did you end up marrying? Because I'm nosy and because I know you're in Santa Monica, which is near our wedding venue 😂.

Ha! We are getting married in my parents' backyard on the 24th. They live in Burbank. There's going to be 7 of us plus the officiant: my parents, my sister and her boyfriend, my fiance's sister (currently riding out quarantine in Mexico) and us. We are doing tests in the week before the wedding, then isolating until we get the results. Assuming we get the all clear, we are going to all be together in my parents' house until the wedding is over -- with clear tests, we will be in a bubble and be able to, you know, do normal things like hug each other. Like we did in the before times. :P The officiant also agreed to take a rapid response test which we are paying for and she will be wearing a mask throughout the ceremony.

I am so excited for the wedding AND for being with my family in person and not at a distance for the first time in over six months. He is so excited to see his sister, too. It is all so soon and I am eeeeeeeeeee so excited!!! I heard two new terms this week for coronavirus weddings: the cere-mini and the cere-many. I am looking forward to planning the cere-many for 2022, when we can have all the people we want to be with us in person.

Will it be live streamed?

Yes, but only to his family at home. We're not even streaming to our friends, even though we thought about it. Okay, when I say "we" I mean "I" -- he doesn't care, all he wants is his daughter and mum to be able to see. So I am running with the idea of keeping it very intimate, family only. When we have the cere-many we can have all the people we want. :)

Realistically speaking though, I know that his daughter's mother will pass on the link to everyone anyway. 🙄

Hmmm so maybe I can track it down...

Would be nice to have a VJ watch party.

That sounds so perfect and intimate! Where in Burbank are they? I lived on North Griffith Park Drive, near Chandler bike path - I really liked it there 💕.

We technically had a cere-mini (just us and our officiant, over dinner - but it wasn't really a ceremony, as we didn't do vows or anything...just paperwork)...then we had the wedding at the Inn of The Seventh Ray in Topanga Canyon (if you don't have a venue picked out for 2022 yet, I couldn't recommend the inn more, it was perfect).

We also had an open bar party at Karl Strauss in DTLA the following day, cause we kept our wedding to 70 people, so there was a bunch that we wanted to invite and didn't...so they all came to the afterparty. I now realise how much I miss Karl Strauss. Or Golden Road. Or Angel City. Or basically any brewery 😩😩😩😩.
