And firing people will definitely speed things up, I'm sure that's how it works

if your tushy is on the firing line, employees become more productive. its universal that fear will drive them. They have been slacking for like 3 decades

Its about time those slacker get fired though.  Just look at the processing time for the last 4 years. It smells inefficiency all the way .

Hmm. Not sure I really agree with that, they’re human beings like us too and have a job to do that pays the bills. I don’t think the individual workers efficiency has anything to do with the backlog right now.

Hello, I received an email from the USCIS lockbox today, which stated all fees will stay the same!! Such great news! So the Adjustment of Status fees will also not increase!

Call the County and get a certified copy. Here in Texas, I helped a friend get one last Friday for $7. He sent his to be registered on the 5th of Sept and has still not received it. So we made a few calls, pleaded last Thursday and got some nice fellow who squeezed as in for Friday for a certified version, without scheduling appointment. Appointments right now are not available for the next 3 weeks

LA county is notoriously slow. In normal times, it usually takes about a month to get your certified copy. The clerk's office is literally closed physically and they are all working from home (I called and talked to a nice lady who told me that). She said to expect 4-6 weeks now, but I sort of doubt it. You don't need an appointment to get your certified copy -- they send it to you, so there's nothing to do to move it along. But on the other hand, I do get to celebrate with my family in my childhood home, which is worth more than waiting around a few extra weeks (especially when EAD and AP aren't a concern for us). :)
