SSN and Bank Accounts/Work

Hi everyone,

 

I wanted to change my name on my SSN to my married name now that I have EAD/AP, but the employee at the SSN office advised me not to until the offices open up. I have been using my married name while applying for jobs etc. and want to use it to open up a bank account. The bank account I want to open says you need a SSN but it is currently in my maiden name. Can I open a bank account with my married name even if my SSN is in my maiden name? Will using my married name for work matter if it my SSN still has my maiden name?

Update: I opened my bank account in my married name, and my account has been restricted due to a name mismatch with the IRS. So it's better to open an account with the name on your SSN (which in my case, is my maiden name since I haven't been able to change it yet).
