Hi!

Last week I finished the first stage of NVC after paying the fees - information about me (applicant). One of the question was to list all your previous address within last 5 years. I did that and I included my student exchange in canada as well as some few months work experience in the UK.

Now I see that because I stated that I lived there I need to submit 3 police certificates: CA, UK and my country.

Is that common? I'm not even sure I can get those certificates because I don't think I was even registered there?

Does anyone have some experience with getting police certificate from other countries?

What happens if I can't get them - can I submit the information about me again and not list UK and Canada?

Thanks

Thanks

Thanks for a quick reply. By registered I meant I never went to any office to register my current address, it's probably not a thing in other countries;)

And yeah, I didn't mean I would lie in my application, my question was more about whether I put too much details and I perhaps didn't need to?

But I guess it is what it is, now I have to figure out how to get those reports.

Thanks:)

Yes very common... apply for them online they take 2-4 weeks usually...

you don’t need to be registered in that country to apply for a police certificate.. it’s basically a name check using your date of birth and the address you used while there

The form specifically asks for your previous addresses.  Answer completely and accurately.  What if it shows up on background checks that you stayed long-term in Canada and the UK but you didn't declare it on your form?  Don't risk your visa application for something like that.

Did you stay for at least 1 year in those countries after turning 16 years old?  If you stayed for less than a year in the UK, you don't need a police certificate from there.  You still need to list the address on the form, though.

Thanks! No I didn't stay longer than a year, both countries it was like 3-4 months! This is good news then, but in my NVC profile all 3 certificates are listed... not sure if it's a mistake then ? Do you think I should contact NVC and make sure?

You can call them if you like.. see the 9 week processing delay on my timeline below? That’s from police certificates and NVC errors.. just supply them, it’s faster than arguing the requirements with them, I wound up giving them 4 in total

Upload a letter that says something like, since you stayed there for less than 1 year, police certificate is not needed as per https://pl.usembassy.gov/visas/police-certificates/
