My sister is my joint sponsor

She filed taxes married jointly

Her alone income is enough for sponsoring

Still do I need I 864 A and her spouse all information?

Yes, if it is filed jointly, it will need both of her and spouse information.

Are you sure? I had a joint sponsor who filed “married filing jointly” but his income alone was sufficient. We did not need anything from his wife.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

When i filed for sponsor, my attorney requested both my sponsor`s and his spouse information as she explained the reason was because they filed jointly even though his income was also sufficient.

What the attorney asked for and what the NVC actually require are often poles apart. I’ve just read through the I-864 instructions and it’s clear that an I-864A and supporting documents are only required if the household income is being used.

Attorneys have a habit of requesting more than you need to provide in order to justify their fees and make their job look more complicated than it is. Oldest trick in the book.

Yeah you might be right. Either way it didn`t hurt to add spouse information at the end.

And it didn’t hurt my case not to include it.

It's not required according to the form instructions, but the consul officer may ask for it anyway.  This is possibly one of those consulate-specific quirks.  A recent VJ example I recall is of an applicant at Guangzhou.  She got a 221g for the I-864A from her joint sponsor's spouse.  I recommend the OP prepare an I-864A for the interview to avoid a 221g for it.

The above is correct, but it is not NVC one must satisfy.  It is the Consular Officer.  If a Consular Officer wants to see the I-864a from a joint filing spouse, SUDDENLY what you thought is not required, is definitely required.  Not having it will cause a delay.  That's why it is best practice to provide it in the beginning.  That some manage without it, is true, but risky.

If she filing jointly that will show in her tax paperworks, so regardless even if she has enough income herself you should show hers and her spouse I believe. In my opinion its  best to submit both her and her spouse because the more you provide the better it is for your interview/visa. Good luck!

Yes. Your sister will fill form I864 while her spouse will fill I864A
